On 02/07/2026, Waukegan Police officers responded around mid afternoon to a residence in the 1000 block of Leith Avenue after receiving a call about a 58 year old man attempting to take his own life. Officers confronted the man at the location and opened fire during the encounter, killing him at the scene. Authorities released few details about the circumstances leading officers to fire.
