On 02/10/2026, Kingsland Police officers stopped a vehicle on Interstate 95 after Ocala investigators identified Ralph Bacon, 38, as the driver who had left the Marion Springs Condominiums in Ocala following the fatal shootings of his estranged wife Nancy Bacon and her four year old daughter. License plate reader alerts tracked the SUV north toward the Florida Georgia border where officers located and stopped it roughly seven miles into Georgia. During the stop, Bacon shot himself inside the vehicle before officers could remove him. Reporting indicates the estranged couple had a long unstable relationship and had divorced years earlier; family members said the child was not biologically his. The killings and subsequent self inflicted death occurred across linked scenes in Florida and Georgia that investigators continue reconstructing.
