On 02/08/2026, Amarillo Police Department officers responded to a call about a 60-year-old man who said people were following him and trying to kill him at a residence on North Hughes Street in Amarillo. Officers made contact with Ruben Cordova Ramirez and restrained him in handcuffs during the encounter. After being restrained, Ramirez became unresponsive and lost a pulse.
