On 03/16/2026, Lacey Township police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a medical emergency involving 55-year-old Susanne Clarke at her home in Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey. Clarke was reportedly the person who called 911. During the encounter outside the residence, officers repeatedly ordered Clarke to stop and drop a knife she was holding. Body camera footage released by the New Jersey Attorney General shows Clarke continuing to walk toward Officer Dallas Gant while holding the knife. Gant fired his service weapon, striking Clarke. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A knife was recovered outside the home. One officer was treated for a non-life-threatening injury. The New Jersey Attorney General's Office is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.
