On 03/25/2026, police responded to a welfare check in the 2400 block of Applebutter Road in Hellertown. Andrew W. Krasnansky discharged a firearm prior to police arrival. Officers encountered him and an exchange of gunfire occurred. The Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team established a perimeter during a prolonged standoff. During the operation, a trooper encountered Krasnansky outside the residence and opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
