On 04/22/2026, Jacksonville sheriff’s officers searched for Robert Marion Phillips as a person of interest in a shooting that left a woman dead and a man injured earlier that day. Officers tracked Phillips to the 5100 block of Julington Creek Road and blocked in his vehicle. Police maintained a standoff with Phillips for approximately two hours while attempting negotiations. Officers said Phillips later fired shots from inside the vehicle toward police. Officers returned fire, striking and killing him. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said no officers were injured.
