OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/18/2026, Sunrise police responded to an armed robbery at a shopping plaza in the 3800 block of North University Drive. Police said three men fled the area in a 2025 BMW. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not stop. Police chased the BMW at high speed through Broward County toward Parkland. According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the BMW crashed into a canal near Loxahatchee Road and Nob Hill Road. Dive teams later recovered Jerome Turner, 32, and Kelby Broward Richardson, 31, from the submerged vehicle. Both men were pronounced dead.
Police arrested Anthony Davis, 26, after he escaped from the vehicle and reached shore. Authorities charged Davis with robbery by sudden snatching with a firearm or weapon and resisting an officer without violence. Investigators stated excessive speed contributed to the crash.
