On 04/26/2026, deputies with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle in Pickens County. Police said the driver did not stop and deputies escalated a chase. During the pursuit, the vehicle crashed near South Carolina Highway 11 and Pumpkintown Highway. The driver, Buck Bowman, died from injuries sustained in the crash. The Pickens County Coroner’s Office responded to the crash and confirmed the death. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
