On 04/24/2026, officers with the Waco Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle that police said was involved in criminal activity. Police said the driver did not stop and officers chased the vehicle through Waco. During the pursuit, the fleeing vehicle allegedly ran a red light at Bosque Boulevard and North Valley Mills Drive and crashed into a Lyft vehicle. The Lyft driver and a female passenger riding in the Lyft were killed in the collision. The fleeing driver was hospitalized and later arrested.
