NARRATIVE:
On 06/28/2026, 34-year-old Devin Alford died after becoming unresponsive shortly after Phoenix Police Department officers handcuffed him during an injured-person call at 2902 North 44th Street near Thomas Road in Phoenix, Arizona.

At approximately 4:07 p.m., Phoenix police officers responded to a report of an injured person in the area of 44th Street and Thomas Road. Dispatch information indicated that Alford was behaving erratically, rolling on the ground and hurting himself.

When officers arrived, they placed Alford in handcuffs. Phoenix police said the officers handcuffed him to prevent him from continuing to injure himself.
