On September 19, 2024, Clifford James Griffin, a 27-year-old from Maumelle, was killed in a crash while driving his Jeep southbound on Interstate 430 (I-430). On 09/20/2024, Desire Pool, a 41-year-old woman, was struck and killed by a Houston Police Department (HPD) SUV while crossing Antoine Drive near Pinemont Drive. Officers Shelby Kennedy and Joshua Rosales were transporting an individual in custody at the time. Pool had exited a bus and was crossing the street with her children when she was hit by the HPD vehicle. Dashcam and body-worn camera footage from the incident revealed that Officer Kennedy performed CPR while Officer Rosales attempted additional life-saving measures at the scene.

On 09/13/2024, at approximately 8:40 a.m., a 38-year-old female driver was traveling northbound on I-75 near Dix Highway in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Her Ford Explorer struck the median wall before continuing down the freeway and colliding with a Michigan State Police patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle, occupied by Motor Carrier Officer (MCO) Daniel Kerstetter, was conducting a traffic stop on a semi-truck on the right shoulder. The impact pushed the patrol vehicle into the rear of the semi-truck. The female driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Kerstetter was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital in critical condition. Collierville PD traffic-stopped a vehicle and discovered a passenger was wanted for previous domestic violence. A woman who was driving was removed from the vehicle. Thurston police received a call that a woman had shown up at someone’s residence and demanded fentanyl. Police were called and located the woman who was allegedly driving with a flat tire in a stolen vehicle. On September 7, 2024, at approximately 1:37 a.m., a Rome Police Department officer observed a black Dodge Charger speeding eastbound after turning from Lavender Drive onto Shorter Avenue. The officer initiated a pursuit but allegedly discontinued due to the Charger's excessive speed, which exceeded 90 miles per hour. A BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued to nearby units.

Another officer traveling south on Riverside Parkway spotted the Charger still speeding eastbound on Turner McCall Boulevard. The officer attempted to join the chase when the Charger collided head-on with a Honda Accord near Dogwood Drive.

The collision resulted in the deaths of Malik Chris'Tyle Henderson, 23, who was a front-seat passenger in the Honda Accord, and 23-year-old Kadrian Lamirical Harris, who was driving. Harris's one-year-old daughter, Riley Harris, sustained critical injuries, was transported to a local hospital, and survived.

The Rome Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident. The identities of the involved officers have not been disclosed.

On 09/06/2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Wayne County Sheriff's deputies observed two motorcycles traveling at high speeds on U.S. 70 near Goldsboro, North Carolina. The motorcycles lacked visible registration plates. Deputies escalated a chase exceeding 100 miles an hour during which 19-year-old Bradley Bridger Gill from Raleigh lost control near the I-795 West exit, veered off the road, and collided with a tree. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash site. Bradley Bridger Gill was a recent graduate of Broughton Senior High in Raleigh and was employed as a driller at Bridger Drilling.
INVESTIGATION: The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
