On 04/27/2024, Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call reporting lewd and lascivious behavior near North Powerline Road in Pompano Beach, Florida. Deputy Wyatt Jennesse, 24, struck and killed Jamil Moreland, 28, on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard. The incident occurred as Deputy Jennesse was first approaching the location of Moreland, who was in the left thru lane of the roadway. It was approximately 5:32 a.m., and low lighting conditions may have contributed to reduced visibility, as Moreland was reportedly lying or crouched in the roadway. Investigators confirmed that Moreland was the subject of the lewd behavior report. They stated that excessive speed was not a factor in the crash, and it remains unclear if Moreland was within a marked crosswalk. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.

On the evening of April 25, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., James F. "Jim" Collins, 83, was a passenger in a Toyota Prius operating as an Uber. The vehicle was traveling through the intersection of East 49th Street and Carvel Avenue when Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers, pursuing a dark-colored Jeep believed to be involved in a prior shooting, chased the vehicle with lights and sirens activated. On 04/20/2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Ada County Sheriff's Deputy Tobin Bolter conducted a traffic stop near W. Overland Road and S. Raymond Street in Boise. As Deputy Bolter approached the vehicle, the driver, identified as 65-year-old Dennis Mulqueen, shot him through the driver's side window. Mulqueen then fled the scene. Responding officers located Mulqueen's abandoned vehicle near S. Dorian Street and W. Roosevelt Street. A perimeter was established, and after an hour of failed negotiations, the Boise Police Department's Special Operations Unit advanced on Mulqueen's position. Mulqueen fired at the officers, striking a tactical shield. Detective Josh Sontag returned fire, hitting Mulqueen twice. Mulqueen was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Bonner County Prosecuting Attorney reviewed the incident and determined that Detective Sontag's use of deadly force was justified under Idaho law.

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., the Michigan State Police Sixth District Fugitive Team, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, attempted to arrest 25-year-old Samuel Sterling, who was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. Officers located Sterling at a gas station near 52nd Street and Eastern Avenue in Kentwood. Upon approach, Sterling fled on foot. During the pursuit, Detective Sergeant Brian Keely, operating an unmarked police vehicle, struck Sterling in the parking lot of a nearby Burger King, pinning him against the building's wall. Sterling sustained multiple blunt force injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m.

Following the incident, Detective Sergeant Keely was suspended pending investigation. On May 28, 2024, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that Keely was charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for his actions leading to Sterling's death. Keely pleaded not guilty to both charges during his arraignment. He retired from the Michigan State Police shortly before his arraignment.

South Carolina Highway patrol chased Tonnie Leon Lawson Jr. for unknown reasons at high speed until he crashed the vehicle and died.

On April 13, 2024, at approximately 6:07 p.m., the Henderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a man with a gun threatening individuals at the North Mills River Campground. Deputies located a vehicle linked to the incident, driven by 29-year-old Hayden Elias Brook. Brook did not stop when officers approached, and police escalated a pursuit.

The pursuit ended when Brook crashed his van at 3908 North Mills River Road. Deputies exited their vehicles and reported seeing Brook discharge a firearm. Deputies Lance Corporal Zachary Tatham, Stephen McDonald, and Conner Newman fired their weapons. Brook was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy later revealed that Brook died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Henderson County Sheriff's Office reported Brook fired his weapon during the confrontation, but it is unclear from reports if any of the deputies’ shots struck him.

On April 13, 2024, Plaquemine Police officers initiated a pursuit of Jonathan “Jono” Keith Williams involved in a domestic violence incident. Police escalated a chase to speeds over 100 miles per hour. The officers "called off the chase" just before impact. The vehicle crashed, killing Williams and critically injuring the passenger. A third-party driver was also involved in the crash and sustained injuries. The incident is under investigation by Louisiana State Police.

Clenard Parker arrived at the DPS office and was told he would not have his commercial trucking license renewed. He stole an 18-wheeler and allegedly deliberately crashed it into the DPS office while being chased by Washington County deputies, killing 1 person on the ground and injuring 14. He was arrested by DPS.
