On 04/08/2024, 37-year-old Dimeka Thornton was killed in a crash on I-695 in Baltimore, Maryland, following a police pursuit initiated by officers from the Baltimore County Police Department’s Woodlawn Precinct.

On April 7, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., 18-year-old Kasenn Lane Dollar was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on U.S. Highway 160, about 3.5 miles west of Independence, Kansas. His vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound 2017 Dodge Charger driven by 26-year-old Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Justin Ward.

A second deputy, 28-year-old Zachary Farmer, was following in a 2022 Dodge Durango and sustained minor damage while attempting to avoid the collision. Dollar was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputy Ward suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Deputy Farmer was not injured. Two passengers in Dollar's vehicle, including 18-year-old Amir Luten, sustained minor injuries.

On March 28, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers observed a black Kia K900 traveling southbound on Perris Boulevard in Moreno Valley without headlights and running a red light at the intersection with Sunnymead Boulevard. On 03/17/2024, Michelle Wall, 44, was driving to church when police chased a stolen Jeep into her vehicle at East 156th Street and Calcutta Avenue in Cleveland, killing her. According to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by her mother, Elizabeth Wall, former Euclid officer Benjamin Wilcox initiated the pursuit and Lt. Vashon Williams authorized it, despite dangerous conditions and speeds alleged to have reached up to 120 mph. The lawsuit states the chase violated department policy and continued across jurisdictional boundaries. After the crash, officers allegedly continued pursuing the occupants of the stolen vehicle on foot instead of providing medical assistance to Wall, and a nurse who attempted to help was reportedly instructed to step away. The City of Euclid has stated its internal review found the officers did nothing wrong.

On 03/17/2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a 24-year-old Aurora resident reported to the Aurora Police Department that he was the victim of an armed carjacking near East 17th Avenue and Clinton Street. Within minutes, officers located the stolen 2007 Jeep Cherokee near the intersection of Dallas Street and East 25th Avenue. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled. Police escalated a pursuit.

The pursuit lasted approximately four blocks, ending when the driver lost control of the stolen vehicle after hitting a speed bump in the 1900 block of Dayton Street. The vehicle collided with several parked cars, including one occupied by 24-year-old Oliver Jose Zeledon Gongora. Gongora was fatally injured in the crash.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, a 17-year-old male from Aurora, was apprehended at the scene. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, treated, and released into police custody. Due to his age, his identity has not been publicly released.
