On 10/16/2025, Cincinnati police responded to reports of a stabbing and shooting in Westwood. During the response, a man on a motorcycle fled from officers, initiating a pursuit that continued into Queensgate. On 09/25/2025, New York State Police pursued a 2010 Jeep Liberty driven by 44-year-old Joseph Damico on Route 5 in Dunkirk. The six-minute chase ended when Damico’s vehicle rear-ended a Toyota RAV4, sending both vehicles into a steep drainage ditch. Damico was pronounced dead at the scene. On 09/25/2025 at about 9:40 p.m., an officer pulled over a Toyota Corolla on the shoulder of I-395. A Honda CRV traveling northbound at high speed collided with the police vehicle. The driver of the CRV was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The officer and a person from the Corolla sustained minor injuries.

The operator refused to stop, and police escalated a chase with speeds exceeding 120 mph while traveling the wrong way on Route 4. The motorcycle struck a vehicle near Chaneyville Road in Dunkirk, killing Sweet at the scene. A 14-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital with serious injuries.

On 09/23/2025, 62-year-old Trina Jones of Alexandria was first struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing Richmond Highway at Belford Drive in Hybla Valley. As Fairfax County police responded to the scene, an officer driving a marked patrol vehicle struck Jones while she was still alive in the roadway. She was transported to a hospital where she died from her injuries. Both criminal and administrative investigations were launched by the Fairfax County Police Department.
