Chicago PD officers with the Priority Response Team tasked with pursuing robberies were on patrol at about 1:58 a.m. when they saw two people in a black Lexus and for unknown reasons believed they were armed and escalated a chase at high speeds that ended when the vehicle crashed and ejected a passenger who died.

Bystanders report that the car had crashed into an abandoned building that partially collapsed and crushed the car. Blood was reportedly seen nearby. The building was demolished the next day. Nearly 2 weeks after the crash, Chicago PD has not acknowledged the building collapse nor identified the deceased person or substantiated what they were accused of causing the fatal pursuit.

On 10/01/2024, the Sunset Police Department and the Opelousas Police Department located a vehicle reported stolen from a commercial parking lot. The vehicle, driven by 17-year-old Tashawn Jackson, did not stop when officers attempted a traffic stop. Police escalated a high-speed pursuit, reportedly exceeding speeds of 100 mph that ended when the vehicle crashed in the 1100 block of East Vine Street. Tashawn Jackson was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the crash site. The investigation into the pursuit and crash is ongoing. Washington State Patrol chased a vehicle for a moving violation. On 09/29/2024, Holland Public Safety officers responded to a reported altercation at a gas station on Washington Avenue. A vehicle rapidly departed the scene without headlights. On September 19, 2024, Clifford James Griffin, a 27-year-old from Maumelle, was killed in a crash while driving his Jeep southbound on Interstate 430 (I-430). West Memphis police had initiated a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle that was driving the wrong way on the interstate. The fleeing vehicle collided with Griffin's vehicle, causing the fatal crash. On 09/20/2024, Desire Pool, a 41-year-old woman, was struck and killed by a Houston Police Department (HPD) SUV while crossing Antoine Drive near Pinemont Drive. Officers Shelby Kennedy and Joshua Rosales were transporting an individual in custody at the time. Pool had exited a bus and was crossing the street with her children when she was hit by the HPD vehicle. Dashcam and body-worn camera footage from the incident revealed that Officer Kennedy performed CPR while Officer Rosales attempted additional life-saving measures at the scene.

Despite efforts to save her life, Pool later died from her injuries at a local hospital. HPD has publicly stated that they do not believe speeding was a factor in the crash. Both officers have since returned to active duty. Pool's family has publicly demanded accountability, specifically calling for the termination of Officer Kennedy.

On September 14, 2024, the Clay County Sheriff's Office initiated a high-speed chase involving 33-year-old Steve Randle Miracle. On 09/13/2024, at approximately 8:40 a.m., a 38-year-old female driver was traveling northbound on I-75 near Dix Highway in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Her Ford Explorer struck the median wall before continuing down the freeway and colliding with a Michigan State Police patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle, occupied by Motor Carrier Officer (MCO) Daniel Kerstetter, was conducting a traffic stop on a semi-truck on the right shoulder. The impact pushed the patrol vehicle into the rear of the semi-truck. The female driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Kerstetter was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, Officer Kerstetter succumbed to his injuries and was taken off life support on 09/15/2024.

Sean Adams was chased by police after stealing a commercial bus in the city of Poughkeepsie. Police chased the bus for a lengthy period until it became disabled and Adams abandoned it, stealing a car next.
