Graham PD chased a vehicle for a moving violation until it crashed into a home, killing the driver, Juan Carlos Lemus Aguilera, and injuring people in of the home. Six residents of this home, including a baby, taken to hospitals with injuries ranging from skull fracture, broken legs, lacerations and abrasions. This high-risk chase was undertaken for a moving violation.

On 06/07/2024, West Virginia State Police Cpl. G.W. Merkich III observed a green Honda Accord in the Sabraton area with occupants not wearing seat belts and no visible inspection sticker. After the Honda continued through a red light at the intersection of West Virginia Route 7 and the Interstate 68 exit ramp, Merkich activated his emergency lights and siren and pursued the vehicle eastbound on Route 7.

Police reported that the Honda accelerated to a high speed, repeatedly crossed the centerline, and entered the westbound lane near Dellslow, where it collided head-on with a westbound Jan-Care ambulance. The impact split the Honda in two. Debris and vehicles continued into the parking area of nearby businesses, striking parked vehicles.

The female passenger in the Honda sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Publicly available news reports reviewed for this update did not identify her by name.

Driver David Blaine Emerson fled the crash scene on foot. After a search, West Virginia State Police located him inside a residence on Pixler Hill Road and arrested him. Police charged Emerson with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death. During later court proceedings, Emerson waived his preliminary hearing, and the case was bound over to Monongalia County Circuit Court.

David Martinez was a pedestrian crossing Soncy Road at Lexington Square in Amarillo when an Amarillo PD cruiser hit and killed him. It is unknown what the driving speed of the police vehicle was.

According to Adam Tipton’s fiancée, he was chased by police until he crashed and died at Sycamore Cove in Buncombe County in North Carolina. He had been an Army vet with PTSD. His family was not told any details of what transpired. On June 6, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a Noble County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle exceeding the speed limit by over 20 mph on State Road 9 near Churubusco, Indiana. The motorcyclist, identified as 37-year-old Kyle J. Garrett of Albion, Indiana, instead drove southbound at high speeds. The pursuit reached 100 miles an hour, and officers "called the chase" at Churubusco city limits.

Garrett continued driving southbound on U.S. 33. At approximately 7:25 p.m., his motorcycle collided with the rear of a Jeep SUV stopped in the center turn lane near McCoy Avenue. The motorcycle burst into flames following the impact. Garrett died at the crash site. The timeline suggests that police called off the chase within seconds of the crash.

On June 7, 2024, at approximately 12:26 a.m., a Crystal Police Department officer observed a motorcycle traveling at a high speed on eastbound 42nd Avenue North near Winnetka Avenue. The officer initiated a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist, identified as 21-year-old Lucas Zander Weyenberg, allegedly fled. The officer pursued Weyenberg; however, after losing sight of the motorcycle, the officer allegedly "called off the chase." Shortly thereafter, Hennepin County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a single-motorcycle crash at the intersection of 42nd Avenue North and West Broadway Avenue in Robbinsdale. Police arrived and found Weyenberg lying in the street with severe injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Robbinsdale Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol are conducting the investigation.

The distance between these two intersections is approximately 0.5 miles. Police only commented that they chased the motorcycle at a very high rate of speed. Using the speed of 100 mph as an example, it would take a motorcycle 15 seconds from the time a chase is called off until fatal crash 156 seconds. This time span is not enough time to slow down and de-escalate speed and it is unknown whether the driver knew that seconds before his death that police had decided to call off the chase.

Houston PD ran a high-speed police chase after a fleeing vehicle while trying to arrest the man on outstanding warrants. In the process of the high-speed chase, the vehicle being hunted ran over and killed an elderly disabled woman with a walker in a cross walk.

On 06/06/2024, the Arcadia Police Department (APD) tracked a bait package equipped with a GPS device that was left on a porch as part of a theft-prevention operation. The package was stolen and later located in a vehicle that had crashed in the 300 block of West Maple Avenue, Monrovia. The unnamed driver of the vehicle was killed in the single-vehicle crash.
