On April 13, 2024, at approximately 6:07 p.m., the Henderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a man with a gun threatening individuals at the North Mills River Campground. Deputies located a vehicle linked to the incident, driven by 29-year-old Hayden Elias Brook. Brook did not stop when officers approached, and police escalated a pursuit.

The pursuit ended when Brook crashed his van at 3908 North Mills River Road. Deputies exited their vehicles and reported seeing Brook discharge a firearm. Deputies Lance Corporal Zachary Tatham, Stephen McDonald, and Conner Newman fired their weapons. Brook was pronounced dead at the scene.

On April 7, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., 18-year-old Kasenn Lane Dollar was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on U.S. Highway 160, about 3.5 miles west of Independence, Kansas. His vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound 2017 Dodge Charger driven by 26-year-old Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Justin Ward.

A second deputy, 28-year-old Zachary Farmer, was following in a 2022 Dodge Durango and sustained minor damage while attempting to avoid the collision. Dollar was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputy Ward suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Deputy Farmer was not injured. Two passengers in Dollar's vehicle, including 18-year-old Amir Luten, sustained minor injuries.

On March 28, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers observed a black Kia K900 traveling southbound on Perris Boulevard in Moreno Valley without headlights and running a red light at the intersection with Sunnymead Boulevard. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, initiating a pursuit. The vehicle reached speeds up to 90 mph, driving recklessly through various streets. While heading eastbound on the 25000 block of Gentian Avenue, the driver lost control and collided with two parked vehicles. On March 25, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a collision occurred near the intersection of Highway 231 and Highway 390 in Panama City, Florida. A Bay County Sheriff's Office prisoner transport van, carrying three inmates, was traveling north on Highway 231 when a Honda sedan, also northbound, collided with the rear of the van. The impact resulted in injuries to seven individuals, including the three prisoners, all of whom were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Kristen Clark, a 33-year-old passenger in the Honda, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. She was seven months pregnant; her unborn son, Asher Blaze, did not survive.

Kristen Clark was a co-general manager at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Bainbridge, Georgia. She was returning from Florida at the time of the accident, just hours before her scheduled baby shower. Colleagues and friends remember her as a dedicated professional and a loving mother. She is survived by her two sons.

On March 21, 2024, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Leland Police Department officers responded to a call reporting two individuals who were possibly armed outside of a residence on Davis Lane in Leland, Mississippi. Upon arrival, officers encountered 15-year-old Kadarius Smith, who fled the scene on foot.

During the pursuit, an officer followed Smith in a patrol car. According to the police report, Smith "ran out in front of" the vehicle, and the officer "could not stop the patrol unit immediately," resulting in Smith being struck by the vehicle on Huddleston Street. Smith was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy revealed that Smith suffered massive blunt head trauma, a fractured skull, and additional severe injuries. His death was ruled accidental. However, family members and civil rights attorney Ben Crump have disputed the official account, stating that Smith was struck from behind and had police cruiser tire marks on his back.
