***UPDATE 10/26/2023: The family has gathered a national team of human rights lawyers and they are demanding that Mobile PD allow them to view bodycam video, give them the shooter officers' names and other key evidence the family has been entirely deprived of under the excuse that the information is confidential and may be viewed by a grand jury only. The family states that they were not allowed to view the body, read the autopsy and they just discovered on 10/24/2023, that the shooter officers who murdered Jawan Dallas have quietly been cleared and are back at work while the family is not allowed to learn their names.

According to Mobile PD, about 9:46 p.m. Sunday, their officers responded to a residential burglary in progress at 5413 Carol Plantation Road, within the Plantation Mobile Home Park where they encountered 2 men. One of the men, 36-year-old Jawan Dallas, resisted, was tasered an unknown number of times and died.

ALEA initiated a high-speed chase which caused two traffic crashes before the fleeing vehicle eventually crashed and overturned near the 173 mile marker in Montgomery County. ALEA shot and killed Isias Jabez Garcia. Details are unknown.

At around 7:43 a.m. on June 20, 2023, Opp PD received a call to Hardage Circle in Oppfor a man with a knife “experiencing a crisis episode.” The man was 45-year-old Cornelius S. Ball of Opp. He reportedly injured an Opp officer during this event. Other police shot and killed him.

Lee County deputies received a call regarding a possibly intoxicated driver. Police located the vehicle in a ditch with the driver allegedly asleep with a gun next to him. When another deputy arrived, demand put the vehicle in reverse and fired a shot at police. They shot and killed him.

Luke F. Crockett, 33, was being chased by Scottsboro PD for refusing a traffic stop when he crashed and died after the Jeep Liberty he was driving left the roadway and hit multiple trees. Crockett was reportedly ejected from his vehicle at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday on Jackson County 21 near McClendon Drive. He died.

Around 7:45 p.m. on 04/28/2023, at a home on Walker Avenue in Tuscumbia after an hourlong standoff police created afterGeorge Handley allegedly threatened family members, he was shot and killed in his home by Colbert County deputies. Per officials,at about 6:30 p.m. the trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 65 near the 101-mile marker in Conecuh County. The driver attempted to elude and was chased. The chase continued into Escambia County where the vehicle left the roadway. Once off the road, police shot and killed the driver and injured 3 others. The circumstances were not explained in detail by police. The man was not publicly identified.

After a man named Montaze Slater was shot and killed in his vehicle, Mobile PD focused their search on Joseph Walker. When they pursued him, Prichard PD would later find Walker in a vehicle, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop due to an outstanding warrant. Tedarrius Smith allegedly refused to stop and drove to a dead end where police allege that he exited the vehicle armed with a gun and pointed it at them. Deputies shot and killed him in a grassy area under the bridge near the Collegeville public housing community in the 3000 block of 30th Court North.

Family members of the slain man stood near his body which was draped in a white sheet. Visibly upset, his mother and others insisted the slain 28-year-old did not have a weapon or fire any shots. They also said they believe his wife falsely accused him of kidnapping. He had been a father of nine children.

Andrew Schwam wasan electric lineman who died following a deadly work-related accident over the weekend on Saturday, March 18, 2023, when a Blount County police vehicle was reportedly driving around him when the vehicle struck the cable he was working on with such force that it lifted his vehicle into the air, smacked him, and flung his body 36 feet, leaving him brain dead. The Blount County officer reportedly refused to accept responsibility. The speed of the police vehicle is unknown.

Mobile PD SWAT burst into the home of Kordell Jones with a No-Knock Raid and shot and killed him. The raid was aimed at his brother, not him. When SWAT launched the attack on the home, Kordell allegedly tried to jump out of the window with an AR-15. The sister vehemently denies this, stating the entire family had been asleep during the raid and her brother was not armed when killed. Jones' sister states that when police burst into the home, she quickly heard 7 or 8 shots from an AR-15 when police shot her brother. The mayor of Mobile stated after the raid that there will be no more SWAT raids within the city. No officers were charged.

A Baldwin County deputy arrivedat a home on Highway 90 in Robertsdale on 03/02/2023 for a vandalism call by a neighbor “intentionally damaging personal property.”
James Richard Pavlista went back into his home once deputies addressed him. Several hours later, deputies saw him leave his home and walk around the property. When deputies tried to arrest him, hereportedly charged at them with a knife. The deputy used a taser and finally shot and killed Pavlista.

Birmingham PD accused Andrew Goldsmith IV of the murder of Corieonna Hines and her unborn baby found shot and killed in the 100 Block of 9th Avenue West. Two female teenagers were also injured during the event. On February 7, 2023, the Birmingham PD’s Crime Reduction Team (CRT) saw Andrew Goldsmith in the 1600 Block of Bessemer Road inside a Marathon Gas Station.

CRT officers tried to arrest Andrew Goldsmith but hereportedly jumped inside a vehicle and sped off while 2 officers were involved in a minor car accident. Other officers escalated a chase that ended at the intersection of Bessemer Road and Avenue W after Andrew Goldsmithcollided with another driver. Goldsmith then crashed into a fence in the 2200 Block of Bessemer Road. Officers saw Andrew Goldsmith to be unresponsive in the car. He had committed suicide under police duress.

A Madison County deputy shot Ray King to death early Friday morning while responding to a domestic violence call with shots fired in the area in the 200 block of Dixon Road. Deputies had initially made contact with himand said he was armed. It is not clear how many deputies were involved or how many shots were fired. News 19 crews at the scene saw a car window and home windows shattered, bullet holes in the side of the house, and a shattered storm door. Deputies patrolling the area reported hearing gunshots. Victim's family disputes the account, saying deputies were at the wrong house while police did not comment on this claim. No officers were charged.

Bay Minette PD traffic-stopped Otis French for an allegedly broken turn signal. Police claim that he refused to exit his car, pushed the officer and fled. Police claim that as they pursued, he “began throwing objects” ad the police car behind him and further claim that he got out of his vehicle and pointed a flare gun at police. Police shot and killed him. The killing was justified by the Grand Jury. It is not clear how police managed to get a shooting of a man who held an obvious nonlethal flare gun justified but all officers were cleared.

Elmore County deputies were sent to a residence on Cherokee Trail for a domestic assault call. They found Darin Gray with a gun. Police shot and killed him. There is no video or other material that was released by the sheriff for verification of the official narrative.

Montgomery police officers who were searching for a wanted person spotted two males standing at the passenger’s side of an SUV at the Express Inn East hotel conducting a small drug deal. Two males got into a Nissan Altima with a paper tag. Officers activated their lights and sirens and the Altima sped up. Police escalated a chase to 90 to 100 mph at what point police claim that they “called off the chase” just as the vehicle was about to crash. The car had crashed in the 5800 block of Vaughn Road near Young Meadows Road. Simmons was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead. Records state that they found a rifle next to Brown’s leg and marijuana in Simmons’ pocket.

Decatur Police chased a vehicle that had allegedly been involved in shoplifting at Home Depot at high speed until the vehicle crashed, killing the driver, Lafonz Hewlett. Two other men were arrested.
