On July 15, 2021, 39-year-old Katie S. Foshee of Montgomery was killed during a police pursuit initiated by the Wetumpka Police Department. She was a passenger in a 1989 Chevy Blazer driven by Donald C. Williamson, 32, of Wetumpka. During the pursuit, the vehicle left the roadway, re-entered it, and collided with a 2020 International MV607 commercial truck on Alabama Highway 143, approximately two miles south of Millbrook. Both Foshee and Williamson sustained serious injuries and were transported to Baptist Medical Center South, where they later died. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.
