Two Nogales PD officers confronted Toledo Ochoa in the parking lot after claiming to see him with a bulletproof vest and gun. They shot and killed him. The police account was unverifiable because Nogales PD does not use body cameras. Some low-quality bystander videos were found but reportedly do not contain much usable evidence. Toledo Ochoa was well known to Nogales PD for having mental health issues. Police believed he had a gun or access to one and put out a P1 (Priority 1) to all officers that he was back in town. With so much focus trained on him city-wide for apparently possibly having a gun and being restricted from gun ownership, two officers chased him down and killed him. There is no evidence that he threatened officers in any way. The shooter officers were cleared by the County Attorney.

A 57-year-old-man locked himself inside a motor home Thursday night as deputies attempted to serve a felony warrant for a probation violation. He was killed during the standoff with SWAT.
Just after 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived in Winona, east of Flagstaff to take Russell McCrory into custody. McCrory allegedly refused to come out of his motor home and police claim he produced a gun. McCrory then told them he did not want to go to jail and would not be taken into custody.The K9 unit and Flagstaff’s Multi-Agency SWAT were deployed. He was shot and killed.

Phoenix PD responded to a fight call around 7 p.m. where officers say 76-year-old Dwight Cornwell was trying to get his belongings from an apartment near 14th Street and Bell Road. He could not get inside and agreed to leave for the night. Around an hour later, a woman called the police about an armed man trying to break a window to get inside the house. Officers showed up again and found Cornwell in the parking lot of the complex. Police allege that he pulled the gun. Officers deployed beanbags when Cornwell raised the gun and fired it into the air. One or more officers shot and killed him.

Customs and Border Protection chased a vehicle with migrants into a crash with one death and multiple injuries near Rodeo, New Mexico on 03/23/2023. CBP declined to give further details.
Border Patrol used spike strips on Highway 80 and the targeted vehicle crashed a few miles later while trying to enter the interstate asthey hit a New Mexico Department of Transportation vehicle head on.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle died at the scene. Four migrant passengers were hospitalized with injuries, along with the driver and passengers from the Department of Transportation vehicle. The chase was allegedly “ordered terminated” but for unclear reasons, officers continued the hunt long and caused this crash. All injured and killed were destitute undocumented migrants.

Border Patrol allege that they saw what looked like undocumented migrants being loaded into a BMW and they began chasing the vehicle. On Jan. 18, police responded to the 4700 block of North Locust Street just before 2 a.m. in reference to a disturbance with a weapon. When officers arrived, they said they found Smith locked in his home with a weapon.
Officials with the NLRPD and Special Operations Units set a perimeter around the home. Police said that Smith then fired shots from inside the home and tried to leave his home, pointing a firearm at officers. This caused one NLRPD officer to fire their gun at Smith with Smith retreating back inside the house.
NLRPD SWAT Team then entered the home and found Smith dead. NLRPD officials said that it is unknown if Smith was killed by police or if was self-inflicted.No officers were charged.

Mesa PD were called for a man sleeping in a pickup truck in front of a Seven Eleven. Police discovered it had been reported stolen out of Chandler. Police gathered and surrounded the vehicle, yelled orders with the PA system, ordered the sleeping man out, began firing beanbags at the vehicle. The man stirred, seemed to wake up and began eating, still ignoring the officers around his vehicle. The man was boxed in and “squealing the tires” according to police, trying to get out of being surrounded by attacking police. The car ran into a patrol car while trying to get unstuck and the driver was executed by several officers while driving.

Phoenix PD attempted a traffic stop on a car they felt may have been linked to a robbery. Police chased the car which crashed through a fence. A man emerged. Police allege he “showed” a gun and was shot and killed. Several BWC videos linked below show that police found him crashed against the fence and immediately fired at least 9 rounds from a semiautomatic handgun, killing him without him threatening anyone. Police alleged that despite their numerous shots, he died after that from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. A terrified female passenger was pulled from the car.

Ali Osman was allegedly “throwing rocks” into an intersection and struck police vehicles. Officers shot and killed him when he attempted to throw another rock. The lawyer for the family showed a bag full of these “rocks” that look like average gravel driveway pebbles. Presumably, the heavily armed Phoenix PD feared for their lives when they saw a man throwing pebbles. Osman was unarmed. No officers were ever charged for this homicide.
