On March 1 at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers with the Springdale PD responded to 1115 Eicher Avenue after receiving a call about someone being shot. The caller stated that a woman was banging at their door and that she had been shot and a male was behind the building. Police arrived, saw a woman who had been shot in the arm, located the vehicle with a juvenile lying down in the back seat. The teenager had a blanket covering his body with only his head being visible. He allegedly raised a pistol at the officer who shot him in the head. Police did not release his identity as he is a minor.

Arkansas State Troopers and the North Little Rock Police Department on January 12th around 8:22 p.m. tried to make a traffic stop on an allegedly stolen Kia in the area of 2700 McArthur Drive. Arkansas State Police Troopers arrived to help North Little Rock PD and ASP took control of the chase around the 146 mile marker. The car attempted to take the exit at high speed, lost control, crashed into a tree and caught on fire. The unidentified driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene. No officers were charged.

Faulkner County Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on Helton’s vehicle for reckless and erratic driving. Faulkner County Deputies and Conway Police Officers jointly chased him into the city limits of Conway and across Faulkner County backroads. Officers claim they were fired upon by Helton during the chase. State Troopers next joined the pursuit and placed spike strips on State Highway 89, deflating Helton’s tires near the intersection of State Highway 89 and Interstate 40 where he struck a concrete curb and stopped as a result. Five law enforcement agencies with guns drawn surrounded him.
Police allege that he had a gun. State Troopers and one Mayflower Police Officer fired directly at him. Officers from Arkansas State Police and the Mayflower Police Department had also fired their weapons. Scotty Helton was killed by an unknown number of bullets. No officers were charged.

Benton County deputies responded to a caller who said they had heard gunfire on Nelson Amos’ property. Police found him driving a tractor and holding a weapon. He explained to police that he had some trespassers regularly on his property and that he is patrolling to scare them off. The deputy struck a threatening tone following which Amos was heard on bodycam saying “Fuck you!” to him, turn away and climbing back on his tractor. The deputy called for backup and he was next seen together with another deputy with a long rifle aiming at Amos on the tractor. Deputies had alleged that he had pointed a pistol at them. This is not seen anywhere on the bodycam and seconds before his death, Amos continued yelling at police to just go away and leave him alone. He never displayed aggression toward police visible on bodycam. Police shot and killed him on his tractor on his property.

Jayden Prunty was walking on Spruce Street. As seen on the body camera footage, Officer Corey Obregon stopped him as part of drug interdiction operation in the area. The officer “detected a strong odor of marijuana.” Prunty walked away while the officer continued to tell him to “Come here.” Prunty ran and Officer Obregon followed, and both fell to the ground. With Prunty on the ground as the officer tried to cuff him, the officer told dispatch he had a" suspect fighting.”
Prunty was allegedly reaching for something which the officer believed to be a gun. A shot is heard, which investigators alleged Prunty fired, hitting Officer Obregon in the leg. The officer then pulled his gun and fired two shots, which appeared to hit Prunty in the head as both men remained on their sides.
The officer then called for help from dispatch, saying shots have been fired. Investigators said they could hear the officer kick the other gun away. Other officers responded to the scene. Prunty died at the hospital. The full video is linked below.

In January 2025, Larry Eugene Price, Jr. died from starvation and severe neglect while detained at Sebastian County Jail in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Price had been incarcerated because he lacked $100 bail. During his time in custody, Price was subjected to inhumane conditions, including confinement in a cell with standing water and urine, which left his hands and feet shriveled. Reports revealed that Price was so severely neglected that he resorted to consuming his own feces before dying. Larry Price Jr., 51, was found by guards lying in a pool of his own urine and contaminated water, unresponsive in August 2021 after having been detained for more than a year. His once 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound frame emaciated down to 121 pounds, according to the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

On January 9, 2025, Price's family reached a $6 million settlement with Sebastian County and Turn Key Health Clinics, the private medical care provider for the jail. Both parties agreed to pay $3 million each but did not admit to any wrongdoing. The family's attorney, Erik Heipt, stated this was the largest jail death settlement in Arkansas history.
