Rachael Martinez and her husband were near the San Diego Court House where they were headed to get a restraining order against former security guard Christopher Farrell against whom they had taken out a restraining order. Farrell had previously dated Martinez. He shot them both in the car and fled. Police found the dead bodies and pursued Farrell with cars and helicopters and shot and killed him.

Shotspotter went off and Fresno Police rushed to the location. An hour later, the patrol vehicles were still there and the presumed shooter, Andy Morales, returned and according to police, fired a shot at an officer. The officer was injured and shot back, killing him.

A person on a Los Angeles bus allegedly pulled out a gun. The bus driver activated a sign which displayed “CALL 911” on the outside of the bus. This brought police which began chasing the bus. The man at that point took the bus driver hostage at gunpoint. LAPD and SWAT chased the bus for hour across town while the vehicle continued fleeing from police. Police placed spike strips and stopped to the bus. Tactical SWAT officers deployed, stun, grenades and forcibly entered the bus. They arrested the hijacker. A passenger was found to have multiple gunshot wounds and died in the hospital later. It is not known at this time whether they were shot by the hijacker or LAPD and SWAT bullets.

Fontana PD received a call about a man swinging a pipe and causing a disturbance. Police arrived and according to eyewitnesses, they beat and finally shot and killed the unnamed man. Still photos from bodycams show that the officers fired from a significant distance. It is unexplained why police felt a pipe would represent a mortal danger to police to justify the fatal shooting. LAPD were dispatched to North Hollywood for an assault with a deadly weapon. They found a person dead in a vehicle. Police alleged their man pointed a handgun and that the officers fired at him. Roberto Rivera allegedly fired shots at businesses in San Jose. Police state that he shot into the ceiling at a restaurant and left and shot out the windows of 7-Eleven. Police found a man who had been shot in injured by Rivera. Rivera seem to seemingly fire at him randomly. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
