On 11/21/2025 police chased a stolen vehicle through Alhambra at very fast speeds. The fleeing driver crashed into a police vehicle at the intersection. Gabriela Moreno was riding as a passenger and was ejected during the collision. She died at the scene.

On September 9, 2025, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a man acting erratically and harassing people at a park in Kelseyville. Deputies identified the man as 50-year-old Ryan Vandever and stated he appeared lethargic and had difficulty answering questions. Medical personnel were called to the scene, but deputies claimed Vandever’s behavior escalated and he became combative. Deputies handcuffed and detained him. Shortly afterward, Vandever became unresponsive. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Lake County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident.
