On 07/06/2025 at approximately 2:24 p.m., San Jose Police Department officers responded to a family disturbance call at a home near Recife Way and Vargas Drive. Officers encountered an individual reportedly armed with multiple firearms. Police allege the person fired at them. Officers opened fire, shooting and killing the individual at the scene. The incident is under investigation by the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Internal Affairs.

Around 4:30 a.m., Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the 1500 block of Helen Drive in City Terrace. When deputies arrived, an adult male allegedly opened fire on them. Deputies shot and killed him at the scene.

Deputies responded just after midnight to a call from a woman concerned for her safety. They found Andrew Biscay inside a vehicle. Biscay exited holding what appeared to be a firearm, pointed it at deputies, and advanced toward them. Deputies opened fire and shot him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A realistic pellet gun was recovered next to his body. Biscay had been arrested weeks earlier in Madera County for impersonating an officer and resisting arrest. Gloria Zamora, a 40-year-old fitness influencer and mother of seven, was fatally shot along with her date, Hector Garduno, in a parking lot outside a sushi restaurant in Fontana. On June 22, 2025, Delta Police responded to a reported shooting at 1572 G96 Lane involving 75-year-old Steven Grubb. On June 21, 2025, an off-duty deputy with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department shot and killed a man in the parking lot of Falcon Ridge Town Center in Fontana. On June 20, 2025, at approximately 11:17 PM, a Lodi Police Department officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly near South Cherokee Lane and East Vine Street. The officer activated emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase that ended when the vehicle entered the on-ramp to southbound Highway 99 at Century Boulevard. The vehicle lost control, rolled over, and came to rest on its roof. Emergency personnel extracted the 19-year-old driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger exited independently and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The San Joaquin County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol was activated. On 06/20/2025 at approximately 6:14 p.m., a Chula Vista police officer was speeding westbound on Olympic Parkway with lights and sirens activated, responding to a radio call. Simon Robledo was traveling eastbound on his motorcycle, approaching Windingwalk Street. On 06/10/2025 around 9:00 p.m., a Kern County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a white Buick Century near Famoso-Porterville Highway and County Line Road. The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Jose Armando Ceja, did not stop. Deputies escalated into a high-speed pursuit, reportedly reaching speeds well over 100 mph. During the chase, law enforcement stated that Ceja threw objects from the vehicle, though details on what was thrown have not been clarified publicly.

Upon arrival, as the apartment door was opened, 31-year-old Kevin Reyes Portillo allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers. Police opened fire, striking Portillo. He received medical attention at the scene and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man, identified as 38-year-old Andrew Mate from Ohio, was reportedly yelling obscenities and using a metal object to force entry. Upon arrival, Mate fled on foot, holding what appeared to be a firearm. Officers pursued him through a crowded public area and attempted to subdue him using less-lethal force, which proved ineffective. Mate then allegedly pointed the replica firearm at officers. Two SSFPD officers and one San Bruno officer opened fire. Mate was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or civilians were injured. The California Department of Justice is investigating the incident, and the involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave. He had been unarmed.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of an "unwanted person" at a Walgreens located at 21650 State Highway 18 in Apple Valley, California. Upon arrival, deputies found 32-year-old Cesar Villalpando inside a bathroom stall.
Villalpando appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was detained without incident. Medical personnel at the scene cleared him for booking. However, upon arrival at the High Desert Detention Center around 5:10 p.m., Villalpando was found unresponsive.
Deputies administered Narcan, and jail medical staff attempted life-saving measures. Villalpando was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies encountered 48-year-old Valerie Anne Cadwallader of Chico, who was armed with a rifle and reportedly threatened officers, saying they should shoot her. A deputy fired one round from his service rifle, striking Cadwallader. Deputies applied emergency medical care and transported her to a nearby hospital, but she later died. The Butte County Office Involved Shooting Protocol Team, in cooperation with the California Department of Justice, is investigating the incident.
