The theft was discovered around 7:00 a.m. when employees arrived.California Highway Patrol officers located the stolen vehicle around 8:30 a.m. near Clements and pursued Hernandez into Calaveras County. A chase ensued, but officers lost sight of the vehicle due to Hernandez's erratic driving. Around 10:00 a.m., Hernandez attempted to carjack a homeowner on Buena Vista Court in Jenny Lind. Overnight, deputies used a drone to deliver a cell phone and food to Hernandez, attempting to negotiate his surrender. Despite these efforts, Hernandez remained uncooperative.
