On May 10, 2024, Ceres Police Department officers responded to a report of a man brandishing a knife at family members in the 3400 block of Dirk Court. The man, identified as 22-year-old Alexander Yepez Ortega, had an outstanding warrant for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. Upon police arrival, Ortega fled through residential yards and was later found hiding in a vehicle on 6th Street. When officers attempted to detain him, Ortega exited the vehicle and attacked a female officer with a knife, injuring her arm. In response, officers shot Ortega, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The incident is under investigation by the Ceres Police Department and the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office.

On May 5, 2024, Ontario Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 400 block of West Maple Street. The man, 39-year-old Orlando Montes Roman, was reportedly threatening his ex-girlfriend and had a history of domestic violence. On May 5, 2024, Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a suspicious person trespassing on private property in the 3200 block of East Monte Vista Avenue, just outside Turlock. The individual, identified as 44-year-old Kevin Frey, was reportedly armed with a knife. Deputy Rose located Frey and repeatedly instructed him to drop the weapon. Frey refused, stating he would leave the scene, and moved toward the 3100 block of North Quincy Road. Additional deputies and Turlock Police Department officers arrived, surrounding Frey and continuing negotiations. Frey claimed to have a gun in his backpack and threatened to stab Deputy Rose. After approximately 15 minutes, Frey advanced toward Deputy Rose with the knife, covering 27 feet in 8 seconds. A deputy fired a single shot, striking Frey. Despite commands to drop the knife, Frey remained armed. Officers approached, provided medical aid, and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A knife was recovered at the scene; no firearm was found in his backpack. Frey had prior arrests and was wanted on felony arson charges for setting his apartment on fire on May 1, 2024.

On May 3, 2024, Fresno Police Department officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle operating without headlights near First Street and Gettysburg Avenue. On May 3, 2024, around 11 p.m., Placer County Sheriff's deputies patrolling near the 500 block of South Auburn Street in Colfax identified a maroon van in a McDonald's parking lot that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a burglary the previous day. Deputies approached the van and contacted the occupant, 37-year-old Stephen Todd Sharp, who was reportedly uncooperative. On April 26, 2024, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to a report of a home invasion in progress at a residence on the 6800 block of Cerritos Avenue. Upon arrival, they encountered 17-year-old Brandon Ramon Salgado of San Bernardino in the yard of the home. Salgado was armed with what appeared to be a firearm, which was later determined to be a replica. Officers attempted to negotiate with him for over an hour. Salgado did not comply. A SWAT team was preparing to deploy when Salgado was shot by police. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police discovered that he had a plastic replica gun and had been unarmed.
