JSO responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on Copper Springs Road on the Southside at 12:30 a.m. A woman was reportedly trapped inside a bedroom with a man “terrorizing her” with a knife. On February 25, 2023, a 35-year-old man from Orlando was killed after a high-speed police chase ended in a wrong-way crash on U.S. Highway 27 in Fruitland Park. Lady Lake police attempted to stop the man following a reported theft at a Home Depot. Police escalated a chase that reached speeds over 100 miles per hour. Palm Bay PD were called to a home on Tucson Road SW around 12:30 a.m. on 02/21/2023 when a woman called and stated that 46-year-old Michael Dishong was threatening her and other people inside the home with a gun. Palm Bay PD and SWAT arrived and Dishong isolated himself in the backyard with a rifle and a handgun. Police allege that he refused to cooperate and SWAT shot and killed him.
