On May 2, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., 29-year-old Isabella North flagged down a passerby near Denton Avenue and Dane Lane in Hudson, Florida, requesting assistance. The passerby contacted emergency services and handed the phone to North, who expressed homicidal thoughts and stated that she had a knife. Two deputies from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office arrived at her home. They saw her with a 12-inch knife. North walked towards them. Both deputies fired one shot each, striking her. On April 28, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Eric Gray, a 20-year-old fast-food employee, was riding his bicycle home along North Andrews Avenue near Northwest 15th Avenue in Pompano Beach, Florida. At that time, Broward County deputies responding to reports of a street takeover at the intersection of McNab Road and Andrews Avenue chased a 2017 Mercedes C300 Coupe.

During the pursuit, the vehicle collided with a marked BSO K-9 unit. The Mercedes then lost control, rotated clockwise, slid toward the bicycle lane and sidewalk, and struck Gray. Gray was pronounced dead at the scene by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue paramedics.

On April 27, 2024, at approximately 12:22 a.m., Deputy Shannon Conover of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office patrolled Hunt Fountain Park in Lakeland, Florida, due to recent burglary incidents. The park had closed over two hours earlier. Deputy Conover approached a white Mercedes-Benz occupied by 26-year-old Kyran Caples. Caples, dressed in all-white attire, refused to provide identification or exit the vehicle. Deputy Conover requested backup; Lt. Chad Anderson and Deputy Craig Smith arrived. On 03/19/2024, Port Orange Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence on the 5900 block of Jandon Court in Port Orange, Florida, in response to a reported mental health crisis. On March 16, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Deputy Christopher Howell of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office encountered Paul Smith, 40, at a 7-Eleven gas station near U.S. 19 and New York Avenue in Hudson, Florida. Smith was wanted on charges of domestic battery by strangulation.

Deputy Howell approached Smith, who was standing near his vehicle at a gas pump, and instructed him to exit the car. Smith entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away. Deputy Howell fired his Taser while still hanging onto the car door. He then discharged his firearm, striking Smith. The vehicle stopped, and Smith was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
