On August 27, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m., members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with officers from the Atlanta Police Department and the Henry County Police Department, arrived at 404 Linden Lane in Stockbridge, Georgia, to execute an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Derrick Rankins. Rankins was wanted in connection with the August 20, 2024, murder of 32-year-old Courtney Reese, a mother of four, in Atlanta.

On August 23, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department SWAT officers executed a narcotics search warrant at the Park Terrace Motel, located at 9025 Pendleton Pike in Lawrence, Indiana.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 9:06 p.m., deputies from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check at a residence in the 57000 block of Pendleton Drive in Elkhart, Indiana. The check was prompted by concerns for 37-year-old Ryan Snyder and his two children, 2-year-old Jaxon Snyder and a 4-year-old girl. Deputies discovered Snyder inside the home, reportedly armed, and threatening to harm his children and law enforcement officers.

At approximately 12:09 a.m. on July 7, the Elkhart County Regional SWAT Team arrived to secure the scene and establish communication with Snyder. Snyder refused to exit the residence, discharged a firearm, and barricaded himself inside. The Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team later arrived to assist in managing the standoff.

After prolonged efforts to resolve the situation peacefully, the Emergency Response Team entered the home around 3:30 p.m. on July 7. Snyder was taken into custody without further incident. Tragically, officers discovered Jaxon Snyder deceased in the residence. The 4-year-old girl was found unharmed and was released to a relative after being evaluated on the scene. Officers from both IMPD and the Lawrence Police Department entered the apartment and encountered Radford holding the woman hostage with a knife. Despite multiple commands to drop the weapon, Radford refused. Two officers opened fire, striking Radford. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The hostage was unharmed.

On the evening of April 25, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., James F. "Jim" Collins, 83, was a passenger in a Toyota Prius operating as an Uber. On April 25, 2024, officers from the Valparaiso Police Department and Porter County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a man displaying a handgun near Fairgrounds Park in Valparaiso, Indiana. Officers located 20-year-old Caden Joel Mura near the Butterfield Pavilion.

When approached, Mura fled on foot toward Calumet Avenue. During the pursuit, Mura allegedly fired at the officers, who returned fire. The chase continued to a residence on Valparaiso Street, where Mura reportedly raised his handgun at officers. Officers then opened fire, incapacitating him.

Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Mura was transported to Northwest Health Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On March 31, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers, including SWAT team members Vincent Marshall, Dustin Bland, and Maverick Bowen, were dispatched to a residence in the 3200 block of Winton Avenue following reports of an armed individual. The man, identified as 31-year-old Luis Duran-Ruano, reportedly held a firearm while standing outside the residence.

After approximately an hour, Duran-Ruano began walking away from the residence. Officers deployed less-lethal bean bag rounds, and Duran-Ruano fired a gun in response in the direction of the officers. Marshall, Bland, and Bowen returned fire, striking Duran-Ruano. Authorities located his vehicle at an apartment complex near 30th Street and Baltimore Avenue. The Marion County Sheriff's Office SWAT team engaged in an hours-long standoff, attempting to negotiate a peaceful surrender. Upon entering the apartment, deputies found Moore dead from a gunshot wound.
