As police escalated the chase, the driver was approaching the intersection, entered the right turn lane and attempted to turn right onto Old US 41. The vehicle was traveling too fast to negotiate the right turn and collided into the driver’s side of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala that was stopped at the stop sign on Old US 41 at US 41. Police tried a traffic stop but the driver kept driving. They chased the vehicle, caught up with the man, tasered him. He fell down and when he got up, he was tasered again. Police allege that he bent down and they believed that he was trying to pick up an unspecified object they refer to as “weapon” and he was shot and killed. Bodycam reportedly exists, awaiting release.

Indianapolis Metro PD attempted to pull an allegedly stolen truck over shortly before 5 p.m. near E. 19th St. and Campbell Ave. Police had been notified that a gun was possibly inside the stolen vehicle. The driver, George Leachman, allegedly stopped but then backed up and rammed into the police car, disabling it, then drove away. Leachman crashed into two more police vehicles. At another location, the truck backed up again and slammed into another IMPD car, causing its airbags to deploy, disabling the vehicle. The truck then crashed into a third IMPD car, disabling the vehicle and causing the airbags to deploy. A total of 3 officers were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Two officers shot and killed Leachman.

Responding to a 911 hangup call at 3:00 p.m., patrol officers with the Gary PD arrived at the Chase St. address. A female was observed running from the residence to the officers. She stated that this was a domestic incident with an armed adult male inside the residence making threats. Officers claim they saw him with a weapon. The man eventually left the residence with a weapon to his head and got into a parked vehicle when SWAT fired shots and killed him. No officers were charged.

The vehicle caught fire and the driver died.He was identified as Damion Collier, 15, after crashing into a utility pole early Tuesday, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. No officers were charged.
