On 02/26/2024, during his jury trial at the Community Justice Campus in Indianapolis, Lamon Moore, 36, fled the courthouse while awaiting a verdict. Authorities located his vehicle at an apartment complex near 30th Street and Baltimore Avenue. The Marion County Sheriff's Office SWAT team engaged in an hours-long standoff, attempting to negotiate a peaceful surrender. Upon entering the apartment, deputies found Moore dead from a gunshot wound.

On January 2, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Kansas City Police Department officers were pursuing a man, identified as 29-year-old Ollie L. Coldiron, for alleged involvement in multiple armed robberies. Coldiron was driving a black Dodge Challenger and entered the northbound lanes of Interstate 435 near Missouri 210 Highway, traveling southbound against traffic.

Officers called off the chase upon Coldiron’s entry into oncoming traffic. Shortly thereafter, the fleeing vehicle collided head-on with a Chevrolet Equinox driven by 60-year-old Alphonso "Duke" Carroll, who was en route to work. Both Coldiron and Carroll were pronounced dead at the site.

IMPD traffic-stopped a vehicle because they thought the driver had a warrant for a previous gun theft. When the vehicle stopped, both the driver and passenger ran away. Police allege that the passenger Deandre Houston “pulled an object from his waistband” and jumped over a fence. Police shot and killed him as he was jumping. Police later admitted that they shot the wrong man and that the warrant was for the driver, not passenger Leandre Houston whom they killed. Police allege that they found a gun somewhere nearby the body. Police did not answer the question whether that was Houston’s gun and whether he had actually used it.
The warrant against the driver was for a previous unlawful weapons possession. Police made no accusations against Leandre Houston and it appears that he was not accused of anything when he was killed except possibly fear of police.
This was the 16th shooting this year by Indianapolis Metro PD.

It is not immediately known who the drivers and passengers were but the fatalities are named as Makayla Hankins (21), Christian Leyba-Gonzalez (14) and Jose Gonzalez Jr. (32).

It is not immediately known who the drivers and passengers were but the fatalities are named as Makayla Hankins (21), Christian Leyba-Gonzalez (14) and Jose Gonzalez Jr. (32).
So far, IMPD has provided no explanation why they undertook this high-risk multi-fatality chase in city traffic.

Special detectives from the Indiana Crime Gun Task Force held an “operation to get guns off the street” which includes the Indiana State Police . They followed a vehicle in which Damon Graves Jr. seen. He was wanted for a parole violation. Police allege that they traffic-stopped him and claim he exited the vehicle with a weapon. At least 3 detectives shot and killed him. Police also shot up a rug-cleaning business in the process which had at least 7 bullet holes visible in the building. Body-worn cameras, an ISP dash cam, and a drone with video were utilized during the incident.

Indianapolis Metro PD chased a vehicle because they believed it was involved in a robbery of a business previously. A Grappler device was used to forcibly stop the vehicle. Police allege that Ricktez Williams shot at them . He is seen pointing something out of the window on dashcam but no gun or shooting can be clearly identified. Police shot up the vehicle while in motion, killing Williams and critically injuring Eriana Morris. She was critically injured and known to be pregnant when shot and her outcome is unknown. Someone in a home on the 4500 block of Woodland Drive pushed a medical alert button during a baby shower and said that a person was in the home threatening to kill them. IMPD arrived and brought SWAT who threw flashbang grenades and other less lethal devices into the home. Gilbert reportedly moved toward a SWAT officer and touched his shield. SWAT officer Lt. John Perkins shot and killed him. He is believed to have been unarmed with final confirmation pending from IMPD.

A resident of an apartment complex on North Shore Drive in Jeffersonville called the police for a welfare check on another resident, 65-year-old Richard D. Glass. Glass had allegedly made concerning statements about going back to prison before walking into his apartment. Then, 911 received another call, this time from Glass. He claimed that someone was trying to hack his phone and wanted officers to help. Jeffersonville police and EMS, but Glass would not open the door. When dispatchers reached Glass on the phone, he said he did not think the people in the hallway were police and repeated statements about having a gun. Police then saw Glass through a window with at least two firearms. Shots were heard in the apartment. Glass was shooting at police amassing outside of his window. SWAT shot and killed him through the window.

He had been the eighth shooting victim of Indianapolis Metro PD in 2023.
