Kentucky State Police, Powell County Sheriff’s Office and the Stanton Police Department came to a home on Cat Creek Road where a man had tried to shoot two people who lived in the home with him. William "Billy" Atkins had a mental health disorder, appeared to be in a delusional state but was very upbeat according to his mother. Fort Knox PD responded to a call of a suspicious person near the post's visitor center. It is unknown how they approached him but Atkins fled from police onto the Fort Knox military base while being chased by 3 patrol cars. A standoff ensued and Atkins allegedly tried to escape the situation, “attempted to ram” police cars and was shot dead. Frankfort Police Department officers were in Mayfield helping local agencies with the aftermath of tornadoes. On December 7, 2021, at approximately 5:43 p.m., Sergeant Chris Lewis of the Elizabethtown Police Department responded to a domestic violence investigation on Pleasant View Drive. On July 15, 2021, at approximately 1:00 p.m., an Edmonson County deputy observed a stolen motorcycle operated by 34-year-old Kristopher M. Burden of Leitchfield, Kentucky, traveling southbound on Highway 259 North in the Kyrock area. Burden made an unlawful turn, nearly striking another vehicle. The deputy initiated a pursuit, which continued as Burden turned west onto Sunfish Bee Spring Road. He failed to negotiate a curve, exited the roadway, struck a road sign and guardrail, and was ejected from the motorcycle. Burden was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Edmonson County Coroner. At approximately 8:45 p.m. on July 6, 2021, officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Dr. W. J. Hodge Street. The driver of the vehicle did not stop. On April 12, 2021, at approximately 1:36 a.m., Angelina Sue Raad, a 38-year-old white female, was driving her vehicle the wrong way on the inner loop of New Circle Road near Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, Kentucky. She collided head-on with a police cruiser driven by Officer Dawn Miller, who was off duty and heading home after her shift. Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles and transported to a local hospital. Raad was pronounced deceased at around 4 a.m., while Officer Miller sustained serious injuries but was reported to be in stable condition.
