Just after 9:30 p.m., members of the Shreveport Community Response Unit conducted a traffic stop at Mansfield Road and Valley View Drive encountering an armed man. Police tried to forcibly arrest him and during that struggle with Shreveport PD officers Daniel Denby, Terri Simmons and Anthony Visciotti, they shot and killed Joseph Dewayne Taylor. More than two dozen police units responded.
Officer Visciotti had shot and killed Joseph Taylor, 33, in April and was just cleared for that killing one week before being centrally involved in the death of Ken’Deris Lawrence. Visciotti had just been cleared to return back to work days before killing Ken’Deris Lawrence. In 2021, Officer Visciotti shot and injured Devin R. Ned and was appointed Hero of the Year 2021.

Livingston Parish deputies were chasing a driver who had outstanding felony warrants. As a result of the chase, his truck hit a third party motorist along LA-16 near Sims Road. Two passengers in the truck, 25-year-old Cullen Pitre and 27-year-old Logan McDonald, died at the scene.
