On April 25, 2021, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the Harahan Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Haroleans Street in Harahan, Louisiana. Upon arrival, officers observed a man, identified as 63-year-old David Arseneaux, holding a .40 caliber handgun to the head of his wife, Lisa Arseneaux, a 62-year-old female.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., the Crisis Management Unit breached the apartment door and found Mitchell deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. A gun was recovered near his body.
