On April 7, 2021, officers with the New Orleans Police Department attempted to stop a white sedan for a traffic violation. The driver refused to stop, and police escalated a high-speed pursuit along Chef Menteur Highway near Read Boulevard. During the chase, the driver lost control and crashed into a marked patrol car. The man was critically injured and later died from his injuries. The New Orleans Police Department’s Force Investigation Team is conducting the investigation.

On April 5, 2021, Louisiana State Police Troop C engaged a pursuit of a 2007 Toyota Highlander reported stolen in Houma. The driver, later identified as 19-year-old Frederick Howard of Gretna, fled eastbound in the wrong direction in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90, crossing the Des Allemands Bridge near Raceland. Troopers discovered the vehicle crashed and empty at the top of the bridge. Around 6:00 p.m., Howard’s body was found under the elevated section of the bridge with injuries consistent with a fall from height. An autopsy was conducted on April 7, 2021.

On March 30, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers from the Bossier City Police Department responded to a report of an allegedly stolen vehicle near a business in the 500 block of Barksdale Blvd, Bossier City, LA. Upon arrival, officers encountered 30-year-old Billy Ray Hill, who reportedly fled on foot but was apprehended by police after a brief chase. Details of the arrest are unknown. On 03/05/2021, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) responded to a report of an armed individual inside the Old No. 77 Hotel at 535 Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.
