Springfield PD were sent to a call about a man with a knife on Liberty and Cass Streets. They located Orlando Taylor, chased him on foot, claimed that he came toward officers with a knife, reportedly stabbed at an officer and was shot and killed. On October 13, 2021, officers from the Augusta Police Department responded to a report of a man with a knife at the Bread of Life Shelter, located at 155 Hospital Street in Augusta, Maine. Police arrived and confronted 34-year-old Dustin J. Paradis, who was reportedly holding a chef's knife. Officers alleged that he walked toward them. Two officers opened fire and killed him. The Maine Attorney General's Office deemed the shooting justified.

On October 8, 2021, Officer Dustin Broughton of the Mexico Police Department responded to an unknown incident at 1167 Main Street in Dixfield, Maine, involving 29-year-old Matthew Allen Marston. During the unspecified confrontation, Officer Broughton opened fire and killed Marston. The State Medical Examiner determined that Marston's death resulted from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. On September 27, 2021, Auburn Police Department officers responded to a report of a woman being held against her will at the Value Inn on Center Street in Auburn, Maine. Upon arrival, officers forced entry into the motel room, discovering that the occupants had fled through a window. Sgt. Steven Gosselin encountered 36-year-old Joseph Arbour in the parking lot. During the encounter, Arbour allegedly pointed a firearm at Sgt. Gosselin and threatened to harm himself. Despite commands to drop the weapon, Arbour reportedly began moving toward a busy area, leading Sgt. Gosselin to fire three shots, striking Arbour in the back. Arbour was pronounced dead at the scene. The Maine Attorney General's Office investigated the incident and concluded that the use of deadly force was justified.

James Andrew Black, aged 27, died on September 18, 2021, following a high-speed police chase in Phippsburg, Maine. During the pursuit, Black's vehicle crashed into a utility pole near 610 Main Road during a high-speed chase for undisclosed reasons conducted by Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On July 8, 2021, Shannon M. Wilcox, aged 53, was involved in an armed disturbance in Presque Isle, Maine. During the standoff, police alleged that Wilcox threatened them with a firearm. On June 5, 2021, Mark A. Sousa, 44, was seen speeding in Mount Vernon, Maine. Police could not catch him and targeted him again when they saw him hours later elsewhere driving a Volkswagen Jetta on Burns Road in Augusta. He did not stop for a traffic stop. Officers from the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office and the Mount Vernon PD escalated a chase at high speeds until he ran off the road and crashed in the woods near the intersection of Bartlett Road and Wings Mills Road in Mount Vernon. The vehicle was empty, and his body was located in a nearby field. Police state that he was ejected during the crash. The Maine State Police investigated and justified the fatal pursuit.

On April 14, 2021, Aroostook County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:58 a.m. that reported a man, later identified as Jacob "Jake" Wood, holding a knife to a woman’s throat at a residence on Scovil Street in Mars Hill, Maine. Deputies arrived at the scene and made contact with Wood.

Despite repeated commands to drop the knife, Wood did not comply. He was reportedly holding a knife to the woman’s throat, and the situation quickly escalated. Deputy Isaac Ward, fearing for the woman’s safety and the potential for further escalation, discharged his firearm, fatally wounding Wood.

The woman was unharmed, and after the shooting, she was able to safely exit the residence. Following the incident, the Maine Attorney General's Office conducted an investigation and determined that the use of deadly force was justified under the circumstances, as Wood did not comply with law enforcement commands and posed a potential threat to both officers and the woman involved.

Donald White, 44, broke into a residence at 48 Knapp Street in Livermore Falls, Maine, and held three individuals hostage, including his ex-girlfriend, her father, and her new boyfriend. White restrained them with zip ties and threatened them with firearms. During the standoff, he also planted multiple explosive devices in the home.

One of the hostages managed to escape and alerted police. A coordinated response from local, state, and federal law enforcement ensued, involving the Livermore Falls Police Department, Maine State Police, Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office, and the FBI. The remaining two hostages were released, but the standoff continued for 17 hours. It ended when police forcibly entered the home, finding White dead.

An autopsy revealed that White died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He also sustained non-lethal gunshot wounds from state troopers during the incident.

On February 11, 2021, police from the Waterville Police Department responded to reports of a man armed with a knife and threatening people at the Best Western Hotel on Main Street in Waterville. The man, identified as Eric J. Porter, a 32-year-old white male, drove away and was later seen by officers on Interstate 95. Police fired pepper balls and a Taser at him. He responded by charging toward Officer Paul Heath. Police alleged he had a knife. Officer Heath opened fire and killed Porter. The Maine Attorney General’s Office investigated and justified the fatal shooting.
