On 07/10/2021, Baltimore Police officers responded around 10:30 a.m. to reports of an armed confrontation on Plum Street. Police located a man who had pointed a gun at another person during a dispute and ran into a residence, triggering a hostage situation. Negotiators responded and officers contained the scene for several hours. Around 4:00 p.m., SWAT entered the home and found a 30-year-old woman with a gunshot wound and the 31-year-old man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head; both were pronounced dead at the scene. Police stated the man shot the woman and then shot himself, and officers recovered a weapon at the location.

On 07/06/2021, Anne Arundel County police officers responded to a call at 1448 Stoney Point Way in Curtis Bay, Maryland, following a protective order hearing. Earlier, a protective order against Baltimore Police Officer Eric Banks Jr. was denied on June 25, but a second petition was granted at 3 p.m. on the same day. Officers found Dasan "DJ" Jones unresponsive in a hole in the wall with a white cover leaning on it, located upstairs in a loft area of the residence. DJ was discovered to have been strangled. Officer Eric Banks Jr., who was DJ's stepfather, was charged with second-degree murder, attempted disarming of a police officer, and child abuse resulting in death after the incident.

On 05/27/2021, Leah Mae Foster was a passenger in a vehicle traveling through the intersection of Lower Pindell Road and Southern Maryland Boulevard in Lothian when an off-duty Metropolitan Police Department officer struck the car. On 05/16/2021, Baltimore Police Department officers responded to a call at 1800 block E. Lafayette Avenue in Baltimore at 10: 39 a.m. regarding a family disturbance. Upon arrival, they were informed by someone outside that a man, later identified as Timothy Fleming, was inside with a knifeand holding a woman at knifepoint. Officers entered the home and proceeded to the second floor, where they encountered Fleming, the woman, and another family member. Fleming allegedly grabbed the woman by her hair and made a motion as if to stab her. Two officers then fired their weapons, killing Fleming.

On 05/08/2021 around 6:40 a.m., Baltimore County police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and a house fire in the 7500 block of Maury Road in the Woodlawn and Windsor Mill area. Police identified Everton Garfield Brown, 56, as the shooter. Police said Brown forced entry into a neighbor’s home, stabbed and shot Ismael Quintanilla, 41, and shot Sara Alacote, 37, as she ran from the home. Police said Brown shot two additional neighbors outside, killing Sagar Ghimire, 24, and wounding another man. Police said Brown set his own residence on fire and officers encountered him outside near a parking lot while he had a handgun. Police said officers repeatedly ordered him to drop the gun. Police said four officers opened fire and shot Brown. Police took him into custody and transported him toward a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Later reporting said Baltimore County police released body-worn camera video from the shooting.

On 05/02/2021, around 2 a.m., Berlynn Matthews stopped to assist Joshua Day, who had been struck by a car while crossing North Point BoulevaRd in Dundalk. While Matthews was helping Day, off-duty Officer William Collazo-Brown on a motorcycle struck both of them, leading to their deaths. Collazo-Brown was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI-related offenses.

On 04/06/2021, Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet opened fire at a business park on Progress Drive in Frederick, striking two people before driving to Fort Detrick. Military police confronted him at the base and opened fire, killing him. Woldesenbet was a Navy hospital corpsman assigned to a medical research facility.

On 03/21/2021, while officers of the Baltimore Police Department pursued a stolen vehicle, Darius Gore was struck by the fleeing vehicle and severely injured. He was placed into a coma and died less than a month later. Gore’s mother, Rowena Simmons, filed a federal lawsuit against the city and the officers, alleging negligence in the pursuit that led to the crash.

On 03/18/2021, around 11 a.m., two officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 7800 block of Bodkin View Drive in Pasadena following a call from a mental health facility to check on a man reported to be suicidal. Upon arrival, the officers entered the home through an unlocked door and encountered Leonard Popa holding a handgun. One of the officers then shot and killed Popa.

On 02/25/2021, around 9: 22 p.m., officers from the Baltimore Police Department's Inner Harbor unit were flagged down in the area of Market and Pratt streets following a non-fatal shooting. One officer provided aid to the victim, while others pursued a man who fled into the Harbor Park Garage. On the ramp into the garage, the man, identified as Benjamin D. Tyson, allegedly turned around, produced a handgun, and attempted to fire it. Multiple officers then shot and killed Tyson.

Before Deputy Frank Pruitt arrived, the driver had already struck two vehicles. Upon arrival, Pruitt observed Kevin Costlow approaching two individuals with a large stick. A confrontation ensued where Costlow struck Pruitt with the stick. Pruitt attempted to use his Taser on Costlow, but it was ineffective. Subsequently, Deputy Pruitt shot and killed Costlow.
