On 12/22/2021, officers from the Albion Department of Public Safety attempted to pull over Brian Douglas Laxton for driving without license plates on his vehicle. Laxton fled the scene, leading to a high-speed chase westbound on Interstate 94. During the pursuit, Laxton allegedly fired shots at pursuing officers. The chase concluded when a Calhoun County deputy executed a maneuver to stop Laxton's car by ramming into it. Laxton then fled on foot, armed with a handgun, and attempted to enter an occupied home near Oak Hill Drive and Willow Street in Battle Creek. Officer Christof Klein of the Battle Creek Police Department ordered Laxton to drop the weapon, but Laxton turned towards Klein with the gun, prompting Klein to shoot and kill him.

On 12/21/2021, Brendan Patrick Pinkston was reported to 911 for allegedly trespassing with a gun in Burton, Michigan. He had left the property by the time law enforcement arrived. Four officers, three from the Burton Police Department and one from the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, responded to the scene. When they located Pinkston, he fled on foot and allegedly fired at the officers, injuring Burton Police Officer Dalton Christie and Genesee County Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Fachting. Officers returned fire, resulting in Pinkston's death.

When they attempted to arrest the driver, he fled at high speeds, colliding with at least one undercover deputy's vehicle. Shortly after, a report of a crash was received, where Linda Jozefiak was fatally injured at the intersection of Cass Avenue and South Rose Street.

On 12/19/2021, at approximately 5: 57 p.m., the Detroit Police Department received multiple calls reporting Nakita Williams waving a gun at customers and employees at the entrance of a Sunoco gas station located at 15201 7 Mile E in Detroit. Four officers responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found Williams pointing what was later identified as an Airsoft gun at customers. The officers then shot and killed her.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered Chaz Nathan McGowen, who allegedly was in possession of a knife. Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation with less-lethal rounds, McGowen reportedly did not drop the knife and charged at the deputies, leading them to use deadly force. On 08/14/2021, Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop in the Galesburg area for a vehicle registration issue. The driver continued driving, and deputies later located the vehicle the same day. Police chased the vehicle at high speed before it crashed in a field. According to police statements, Kyle Anthony Goidosik fired shots toward deputies before the crash and continued shooting afterward. Deputies opened fire, killing him at the scene. On August 4, 2021, Michigan State Police received information about a man and woman in possession of a stolen minivan at a rest area. During an attempted traffic stop, they did not stop. Police escalated a high-speed chase. The troopers eventually lost sight of the vehicle but later discovered the scene where the stolen minivan and two other vehicles had crashed in the front yard of a home on East Maple Street and East Street in Holly Township.

The man and woman then entered an occupied home, releasing the homeowners without harm. The woman surrendered to the police, but William Lanham, the man, fired at officers while remaining inside the house. Eventually, Lanham was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the residence.

On July 26, 2021, deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a home at the intersection of N. State Streetand Bush Street in Gobles around 7:30 p.m. due to a report of domestic assault. After securing a warrant, they returned at about 9:30 p.m. Jacob Bender's wife informed the deputies that Bender was hiding in a basement crawl space. A deputy then used a K-9 unit to apprehend him. Bender allegedly stabbed the police dog three times. Deputies fired a taser, then opened fire, killing him.

On 06/17/2021, starting at about 7: 59 p.m., the Chippewa County Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a truck driving recklessly in the Pickford area, heading north towards Sault Ste. Marie. Deputies from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office located the truck traveling northbound on M-129 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The truck did not stop and continued at high speed with police chasing until it collided with the rear of a small car driven by bystander Katelyn Jo "Katie" Robinson at the intersection of M-129 and 20th Street. The collision propelled Robinson's car into an electric pole, causing her to be ejected. She died at the crash site. The truck then continued northbound, eventually crashing after hitting a stop sign, an electric pole guide wire, three parked cars, and a building. The driver of the truck was transported to War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, also with life-threatening injuries.

On 05/22/2021, at approximately 8: 50 a.m., Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to a domestic assault incident in Beaver Township. Johnny Owen King, aged 63, had been residing on the property with his uncle and his uncle's ex-wife. The reported assault was between King and his uncle's ex-wife. Upon arrival, the troopers entered a travel trailer on the property and requested King to come outside for a conversation. King refused to comply, and according to reports, he armed himself with a .177 caliber pneumatic gun, commonly referred to as a BB gun. The troopers then shot and killed King. The incident is under investigation.

On 04/21/2021, an officer from the Wyoming Department of Public Safety noticed a vehicle without a license plate near 44th Street SW and S. Division Avenue in Grand Rapids, which matched the description of a stolen car reported earlier that evening. The Wyoming Department of Public Safety is under the city of Wyoming, Michigan, not the state of Wyoming. The officer attempted to pursue Shynia Jones, who was driving the vehicle, but she did not stop. Shortly after, another officer spotted Jones' car and escalated a chase to between 80 and 90 mph. The officer began a pursuit but allegedly “called off the chase” moments before she crashed into another vehicle, then a boulevard median at high speed, became airborne, lost control, and collided with a light pole on the east side of the Street, killing her.
