On 12/30/2022, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to reports that Paul Milton Horn Jr had confronted neighbors near the 10500 block of Angel Dreams Avenue with a gun. Officers established containment around his residence and gave commands for him to surrender. Horn exited the home holding a gun and, during the confrontation with officers, shot himself. An officer discharged a round at nearly the same time, but the Clark County Coroner determined Horn died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident was reviewed through LVMPD’s critical incident process and presented to the Clark County District Attorney.

On 09/24/2022, North Las Vegas police responded to a 911 call about a man in the backyard of a home in the 4300 block of Westmere Avenue who was acting erratically and appeared to be trying to break into the house. Officers arrived shortly after the call and located 38-year-old Darin Matthew Paul Dyer armed with a rifle. According to police, Dyer behaved aggressively and challenged a neighbor before officers engaged. At about 10:30 p.m., shots were fired and Dyer sustained at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The North Las Vegas Police Department placed the officer involved, Sergeant Paul Sanderson, on administrative leave as part of standard procedure. The Clark County Coroner’s Office later ruled the death a homicide.

On 12/05/2021, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of vehicle break-ins in the 2400 block of West Serene Avenue and located Michael Guillory inside a vehicle. Officers surrounded the vehicle and maintained a standoff lasting more than two hours. Officers fired less-lethal shotgun rounds, released a police dog, deployed a conducted energy weapon, restrained him, and took him into custody. Guillory lost consciousness and never recovered. He died the following day at a hospital, where the coroner determined the immediate cause of death was pulmonary embolism. On 11/17/2021, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers tracked Steven Thomas, 36, after police said he took a 2007 Kia Sorento from a man at gunpoint in a bank parking lot at 1775 N Decatur Blvd, then went to a Circle K at 5400 Vegas Dr and demanded access to the safe, then entered Mountain America Credit Union at 7280 W Lake Mead Blvd and took cash that included GPS trackers. Police located the Kia traveling north on Tenaya Way near Cheyenne Ave. Police said Thomas got out of the Kia near 3300 N Tenaya Way and reached for a pistol. Police said Sgt. Donald Graham hit him with a patrol vehicle, and police said Thomas then moved toward Officer Amelia Lukac while still holding the pistol. Officer Lukac opened fire multiple times, and Sgt. Graham opened fire once. Thomas was taken to a hospital and died from gunshot wounds. A Clark County District Attorney use of force report later stated the pistol recovered near Thomas was not loaded and concluded the officers actions were legally justified and no criminal charges would be filed. The same report described witness statements that Thomas had been in severe pain, had made suicidal statements in the months before, and learned earlier that day that his hand might require amputation.

On October 19, 2021, officers from the Reno Police Department's repeat offenders’ program were searching for Richard "Ricky" Thomas, who had an outstanding felony warrant. They located his red truck at a gas station on Golden Valley Drive. As the truck began to move, three unmarked police vehicles surrounded it. Officers attempted to remove Thomas from the vehicle, but he allegedly refused to comply and tried to drive away. During this attempt, one officer was pinned by the driver's door, and another was caught by the closing passenger door as the truck moved off. Both officers involved opened fire, killing Thomas.

On October 12, 2021, at approximately 9:33 a.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to an apartment on E Lake Mead Blvd for an assault and battery call. The victim's current boyfriend reported that her ex-boyfriend, Mario Lawrence Martinez, had been harassing them, fired shots, and forcibly entered the apartment to kidnap the woman at gunpoint. Martinez attempted to escape in her car, which wouldn't start, leading him to flee with her on foot. They were located near a shopping center at about 10:50 a.m. Martinez, still armed, did not comply with police orders to surrender, moving through the shopping center, and eventually breaking into a box truck in an alley, where he also shot out its window. During this standoff, Officer Ramon Hiestand and other officers engaged Martinez. After Martinez pointed his gun at officers, the woman escaped, and Hiestand shot him. Martinez continued to fire while on the ground. He fired until he shot and killed Martinez.
