NYPD hunted a man described only as being in his 20s on a scooter who fit the description of someone sought in a robbery elsewhere. Police escalated a hunt against the scooter just before noon in the location depicted above, sourced from Google View. The chase ended when he collided at the above intersection with a box truck and died.
The hunt after this scooter was part of a wider NYC approach to crack down on scooters because Mayor Adams feels that too many crimes are being committed by people who escape on scooters. There have been a number of aggressive incidents including at least 2 deaths in NY with attacks by police on scooter drivers in 2023 so far due to these new policies, this being the third known to us.

Police allege that they received calls that a neighbor exhibited bizarre behavior by being seen with a fencing mask and sword in or around his home. They called NYPD who arrived, saw Weber with a fencing mask and 2 swords and fired a taser at him, then shot and killed the man. Police allege that he was screaming inside but the details of the circumstances under which he was killed were not passed on by police. Yelling in his own home and wearing a complete fencing outfit is not an illegal act but police did not disclose why they shot and killed him when they entered his home and saw him in his fencing gear.
Alan Weber was known to be a skilled elite fencer and it is not known whether an incident occurred or he was in his common fencing gear and misunderstood by a neighbor and shot upon sight by police as the narrative suggests. Weber was an owner and head coach at Elevate Fencing Club and was a five-time US national team member and Olympic alternate, according to the Rockland Fencers Club Facebook page. He won a medal for the United States at the Pan American Games in 1995.

NYPD undercover agent Erik Duran who was in plainclothes and not identified as police, picked up a 40-pound ice cooler he had taken away from a picnicking family that was filled with cold drinks and threw it at Duprey’s head, striking him in the face, allegedly shattering his skull, knocking him off the scooter and slamming him into a tree where he died. He was unarmed. His family is adamant that they were on the phone before and during his death and that he had only been passing through because he was a bike food delivery worker. His wife was not informed of the death and police refused to give her any information when she learned of it. His mother in Puerto Rico who had been on the phone with him when he was killed is demanding justice and questioning NYPD’s recital of events. Police say Williams’ bike was unregistered, and they claim that he was driving recklessly when he collided with an unmarked cruiser on the University Heights Bridge. It turned out that the cruiser crossed over into oncoming traffic to deliberately hit him. He died. “An officer took it upon himself to cross over the yellow line, into oncoming traffic,” said Jamie Santana, attorney for Williams’ family. “You are going to cause significant injury, if not death, and unfortunately that’s exactly what happened in this case.”

During the chase, an unmarked police vehicle reportedly crossed the double yellow line and swerved in front of Williams, causing a crash. Williams died from the collision.

Laurens County Sheriff’s Office deputies tried to serve a warrant on Indian Mound Road in Laurens on Keith William Dramstad, 57, of the residence at 2221 Indian Mound Road. Dramstad presented “what appeared to be a weapon” and locked himself in the mobile home.” The LCSO SWAT team was called in and set off several explosive devicesincluding apparent tear gas grenades and “flash-bang” grenades and deputies breached the front door of the residence and found Dramstad with a self-inflicted cross bow wound. A man called NYPD and said someone was breaking into the home of his elderly uncle in Brooklyn. Police arrived and the elderly man opened the door to police with a gun.
