On 07/06/2025, around 12:30 a.m., Transylvania County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a welfare check and found a vehicle in the Pizza Hut parking lot at 62 Pisgah Highway in Pisgah Forest. As deputies approached, the person inside allegedly began shooting at them. Deputies opened fire and killed the individual, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.

On 06/29/2025, just before 1:30 p.m., Lincolnton Police responded to a domestic disturbance at Betty G. Ross Park. Officers encountered a man reportedly armed. During the encounter, an officer fired, fatally wounding him. A woman was also critically injured and transported to a local hospital. No officers were hurt. On 06/27/2025, Winston-Salem Police officers responded to a disturbance call involving weapons at a residence on the 1000 block of Nancy Lane. Officers attempted to arrest Antonio Irene Betancourt, who had outstanding weapons warrants, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Betancourt resisted arrest, drew a handgun, and shot one officer in the ballistic vest. Another officer returned fire, striking and killing Betancourt at the scene. The injured officer was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent review of the incident.

On 06/27/2025 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Randy Lee Johnson, 62, was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty northbound on Red White and Blue Road when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound Nissan Altima. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

On 06/26/2025, Newton Police officers attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle operated by Camden Skyler Childers for alleged traffic violations including reckless driving and no license plate. Childers did not stop. Lt.Carlos Alverto Uribe escalated a chase into Conover that ended in a collision between the motorcycle and a patrol vehicle on Northern Drive NW. After the crash, a physical altercation reportedly took place before Lt.Carlos Alverto Uribe shot Childers. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

On 7/21/2025, Lt. Uribe was arrested and is facing murder charges at this time.

Greenville Police SWAT officers and Martin County deputies responded to reports of an intoxicated man with a shotgun driving a pickup truck in Hamilton. On June 5, 2025, Wilmington Police Department narcotics investigators and SWAT officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of South 8th Street in Wilmington, North Carolina. Officers deployed flash bangs, ordered occupants out, and detained a woman at the scene. Lavar Wright, 41, complied with commands, exited the home, and was handcuffed. He was seated on a chair on the front porch while police searched inside the house and reported seizing a 9mm handgun along with drug paraphernalia.
A short time later, while still restrained and seated outside, Wright suffered what police described as a seizure and collapsed. Detectives called EMS and provided medical assistance on scene before he was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he died shortly after arrival. The Wilmington Police Department classified the case as an in-custody death. Police Chief Donny Williams requested that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation conduct an independent review. On May 31, 2025, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Monroe Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Old Charlotte Highway near Rocky River Road. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Joshua Hayden Sikes, did not stop. Police escalated a chase that ended on Goldmine Road near River Chase Drive. Sikes exited the vehicle and reportedly fired at officers, striking a female officer multiple times. She was transported to a Charlotte hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Sikes then fled on foot into a wooded area. A large manhunt followed, involving K9 units, drones, and a helicopter from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. At approximately 3:52 a.m., officers located Sikes, who was reportedly armed with a rifle. He fired at officers, who opened fire and fatally shot him. Officials later stated Sikes was possibly linked to an earlier homicide under investigation. No additional body camera footage or surveillance recordings have been publicly released.

On 05/24/2025, a Sampson County deputy attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for a registration violation around 9:30 a.m. on US 421 near Clinton. The driver refused to stop, and deputies escalated a pursuit that looped through secondary roads and returned to US 421. Deputies claimed to have seen a gun on the motorcyclist during the chase. Near Kitty Fork Road, the motorcyclist lost control and crashed. After the crash, deputies claimed the man reached for the weapon, and a deputy opened fire, striking him. On May 14, 2025, Joshua Farmer, a 19-year-old suspect in a homicide investigation, was fatally shot inside the Durham Police Department headquarters. On the morning of May 8, 2025, Trooper Nolan J. Neal of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 85 southbound near mile marker 185 for a pickup truck lacking a registration plate. The driver, later identified as 53-year-old Philip Aiken Brown of Creedmoor, provided false information during the stop. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Brown had multiple active warrants for his arrest. As Trooper Neal attempted to take Brown into custody, Brown fled the scene. The trooper escalated a chase reaching up to 85 mph. The chase concluded when Brown exited onto Red Mill Road, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into an embankment. Following the crash, Trooper Neal commanded Brown to show his hands. Brown failed to comply and eventually displayed a dark object in his hand, prompting Trooper Neal to discharge his firearm, striking Brown. On April 22, 2025, around 7:30 a.m., U.S. Marshals and Nash County deputies attempted to serve a second-degree murder warrant from New York on 40-year-old Donald Fields at a residence on Crabtree Lane near Castalia, North Carolina. On April 22, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a Maxton Police Department officer attempted to stop a vehicle whose driver refused to exit and allegedly tried to run over the officer. The officer escalated a chase and Scotland County deputies also engaged in chasing 36-year-old Michael McCartney of Laurinburg, who was then driving the wrong way on Highway 74, fleeing from numerous police vehicles until he collided head on with a van. McCartney was pronounced dead at the crash site. The female driver of the van sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Law enforcement issued a "be on the lookout" alert for Roach and the vehicle. Around 8 a.m., Anson County deputies located Roach's vehicle and initiated a pursuit. The chase concluded when Roach crashed off Little Creek Road near Old Winfield Road in Wadesboro. Upon reaching the vehicle, deputies discovered Mianna deceased from a gunshot wound and Roach critically injured from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. Roach was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries on March 27, 2025. Authorities believe Roach shot his daughter during the pursuit before attempting suicide. On 03/19/2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Pinehurst police responded to a report of a suspicious person at a home on Remington Lane. Officers saw smoke coming from the home and called firefighters. While firefighters were working, a man exited the house, grabbed an ax left by the door, and charged at officers and firefighters. Police fired a Taser, but it was ineffective. Officers opened fire, killing him. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the incident.

On February 27, 2025, Asheville Police responded to a hotel on the 100 block of Hendersonville Road following reports of a barricaded individual involved in a domestic dispute. The man had locked himself inside a hotel room and was believed to be armed. The situation quickly escalated to a heavy police presence, with perimeter control established and the Asheville Police SWAT team deployed to the scene.
Tactical operations included staging armored vehicles, shield-equipped entry teams, and sniper-observer units to cover all angles of the hotel. Negotiators attempted to communicate with the man through the door and via loudspeaker, but no response was received. Officers maintained containment while preparing breaching equipment.
At approximately 3:06 p.m., after sustained non-response, SWAT officers conducted a deliberate entry into the hotel room using ballistic shields and tactical lighting. Inside, they found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The weapon was recovered nearby.

The pursuit continued back to Henderson, where Johnny exited the car and was subsequently shot by deputies. Mae emphasized that Johnny was unarmed during the incident.

Neighbors in the area expressed concern over the use of lethal force, questioning the necessity of the shooting given that Johnny was reportedly unarmed. Mae acknowledged Johnny's past legal issues but did not understand why the situation escalated to a fatal shooting. Cannon Blvd, Kannapolis, North Carolina. The incident stemmed from a domestic violence situation reported on February 1, 2025, at their residence in Harrisburg, where firearms were previously removed, and Lopez was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault on February 6. He was released on a $5,000 bail and served with a temporary protective order on February 14. Following the shooting, Lopez fled the scene, leading law enforcement on a pursuit into Rowan County. The chase concluded on Lower Palmer Road in Rockwell, where Lopez died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. On January 21, 2025, Raleigh Police Department officers responded to a reported residential burglary in progress at a home on the 600 block of Democracy Street. Upon arrival, they heard shots fired from inside the residence. A 73-year-old man, John Rowe, was found deceased inside the home. On January 19, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Raleigh Police Department officers responded to reports of a man brandishing a firearm inside a North Hills restaurant located on the 400 block of Main Street in Raleigh, North Carolina. The 32-year-old man allegedly threatened patrons and staff before retreating to a rear section of the restaurant. Following the shooting, and upon police arrival, Colom Jr. shot himself. On January 7, 2025, officers from the Sanford Police Department responded to a domestic situation at 1616 Columbine Road in Sanford, North Carolina. A female victim had fled to a neighbor's house, reporting that she had been held against her will but managed to escape. Police secured the area and obtained an arrest warrant for the man, identified as 50-year-old David Wayne Worth, on charges of second-degree kidnapping. Upon entering the residence around 10:40 p.m., officers found Worth deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He had previously been known as the man who opened fire with an AR-15 at Comet Ping Pong in D.C. on Dec. 6, 2016. The restaurant had been known as the target of the Pizzagate QAnon psyop which claimed that children were abused and held by prominent politicians in the basement or in tunnels under the restaurant.

After the Pizzagate shooting, he was sentenced by then-U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on June 22, 2017, to four years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Welch served his full sentence and was released from federal prison on May 28, 2020.

On January 4, 2025, Welch was involved in a traffic stop in Kannapolis, North Carolina, where he was shot and killed by police. He was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over, and he was recognized as having an outstanding warrant for a felony probation violation. During the arrest attempt, he allegedly pulled out a handgun.. Police shot and killed him. The names of the officer and the police department have not been released. He died from his injuries 2 days later.

Deputies heard a single gunshot and the sound of shattering glass. Utilizing the county's armored vehicle, deputies approached and found the man dead inside the vehicle from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
