On December 19, 2024, Roxboro Police Department officers initiated a pursuit of an allegedly stolen 1999 Buick. The pursuit reached speeds of 60 mph in a 20-mph zone. The driver ran a red light at the intersection of South Main Street and Madison Boulevard, leading to a four-vehicle collision involving a passenger truck and two other vehicles. Several individuals sustained serious injuries, including 16-year-old passenger Branden McCain, who was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries on December 28, 2024. The incident is under investigation by the Roxboro Police Department.

On December 14, 2024, 18-year-old Caden Sjobeck of Treasure Island, Florida, was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash in Morehead City, North Carolina. The incident began when the North Carolina State Highway Patrol attempted to stop Sjobeck for a speeding violation on NC 24 in Carteret County. Sjobeck failed to pull over. Police escalated a chase that was joined by the Swansboro Police Department. The chase concluded on US 70 near S. Lockhart Street in Morehead City, where Sjobeck collided with a curb and was ejected from his motorcycle. He was then struck by a pursuing Swansboro Police Department vehicle and subsequently collided with a utility pole. Sjobeck was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision remains under investigation.

Deputies attempted to make contact but faced resistance from Rose, who refused communication. Walterboro police and Colleton County deputies were sent to a disturbance Tuesday night in a parking lot off Sniders Highway near a Best Western and Ruby Tuesday. Police state that they were called because Horan was slashing car tires. Police arrived, allegedly saw him with a knife, and killed him. His family states that he was a very kind man, suffering from severe military PTSD and a TBI head injury. It is unclear whether he had mental health support. A police dog also died in the shooting. Horan reportedly only had a knife and it is believed that the dog died by police friendly fire.

Asheville PD responded to a call that a man had pointed a rifle at someone. Police arrived in the man, identified as 59-year-old Chad Owen Herman, locked himself into the home. Herman had allegedly had a fight with a contract city worker who was installing water meters. During the altercation, Herman allegedly hit the man with a shovel and injured him. A man called Charlotte-Mecklenburg and reported a stolen vehicle on the shoulder of the I-485. Greene County deputies allege that Willie Lovett arrived and broke into a home and fought deputies and they had to shoot and kill him. His son explained that his father had dementia, was a gentle person but that he had apparently wandered into a house that looked much like his own one street over when he was confronted and killed by police who mistook him for a burglar. A North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper stopped to check on 2 men changing a tire. The men drove away and the trooper escalated a chase that ended when the vehicle crashed into the back of a Fed Ex truck. Passenger Keonte Shakir Forney died at the scene.
