On March 16, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Ravenna Police Department officers responded to a report of a man with a gun sleeping on the floor of an apartment in the 600 block of Hazen Street. Upon arrival, officers observed 48-year-old Shawn Ware lying on the floor with a firearm in his waistband. Officers retreated and issued verbal commands for Ware to drop the weapon. Moments later, Ware exited the apartment using another man as a human shield. The hostage broke free, after which Ware pointed his weapon at officers. Police opened fire and killed him. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.

Josiah "Joe" Maloon, 57, allegedly assaulted and fatally shot his wife, Juanita Maloon, 53, at their home on State Route 571 near Greenville. After the incident, he fled the scene in a vehicle. Police initiated a pursuit, which ended when Maloon's vehicle crashed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On 03/06/2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop a driver on Interstate 71 near milepost 175 for alleged reckless driving. The driver, identified as Jared Shaw, 33, of Mount Vernon, did not stop. Troopers escalated a chase through Ashland County. Shaw exited onto U.S. 250 toward Ashland, continued on Ohio 60 South into Loudonville, and was chased by troopers until he lost control at the intersection of Ohio 3 and Ohio 60. His vehicle struck a utility pole. Shaw was pronounced dead at the crash site.

On 03/04/2025, police began searching for 23-year-old Shamar Summerall after he was identified as the shooter in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Mariah Sanders outside the 444 Park Apartments in Richmond Heights, Ohio. Witnesses reported that Summerall followed Sanders before shooting her multiple times. A baby was found unharmed near Sanders.
After an extensive search by multiple law enforcement agencies, including U.S. Marshals, Summerall was located early the next morning at Mayfield Heights City Park. As officers approached, he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Moses Alik, 22, who reportedly had a knife, charged at the deputy with the weapon. Deputy Spencer Heinl fired a Taser, then opened fire, killing Alik.
