Around 11 p.m. on February 4, 2021, Oklahoma City police responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance. Officers were informed that the individual involved, later identified as 30-year-old Tilford "TJ" Barton, was armed with a firearm and had discharged it earlier that night. Upon arrival, officers encountered Barton hiding behind a tree. He produced a pistol and fired at Sergeant Gerald Ritter III, who returned fire, striking Barton. Barton fell to the ground and died at the scene. Sergeant Ritter was not injured during the incident.

On January 31, 2021, at approximately 5:20 p.m., the McCurtain County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic assault report involving Franklin Gray, a 39-year-old male. Gray was allegedly restraining his mother on a couch, causing her breathing difficulties. When deputies arrived at the residence in the 1700 block of Lavender Road in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, they encountered Gray outside the home and attempted to arrest him. During the altercation, Gray reportedly tried to take a deputy's firearm, resulting in the weapon discharging. Deputies deployed a taser in an effort to subdue Gray but were unsuccessful. The confrontation escalated, and at least one deputy opened fire, fatally shooting Gray.

On January 17, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Lawton police officers conducted a compliance check at the Lavish Lounge, where 24-year-old Zonterius "Zon" Johnson was celebrating his birthday. During the check, shots were fired from outside the club, with at least one bullet striking the building. Officers observed Johnson exchanging gunfire with an unidentified individual. Johnson fled the scene on foot. Officer Nathan Ronan pursued Johnson into a dark alley. Johnson allegedly produced a firearm. Officer Ronan opened fire, striking Johnson. On January 13, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) troopers and Oklahoma City Police Department officers escalated a chase of a stolen Lincoln Navigator up to 115 mph. The vehicle was driven by 17-year-old Vinnie Hamlet, the twin brother of Chris Hamlet, with Chris and a 17-year-old female passenger. Troopers used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver, directly causing the SUV to flip multiple times and land in a field near Southwest 119th Street and South Meridian Avenue. Vinnie Hamlet was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Chris Hamlet and the female passenger sustained injuries but survived.
