An officer was called to a location where a person was reported in the roadway. As the officer arrived, the woman allegedly turned and advanced on the officer, slashing at him with a machete. The officer reportedly tasered and then shot and killed her.

Deputies arrived after 1:30 a.m. at a game room near Channelview. One man was killed near the entrance. It was uncertain if he was wounded during an exchange of gunfire with a deputy or earlier during a possible encounter with a security guard, but since he was alive during the exchange, police were present during his death.

Around 12:02 a.m., officers were doing a routine drug patrol when they approached a man in his vehicle. The man, Rodolfo Gonzales, noticed officers approaching, and he reportedly tried to avoid arrest. Gonzales allegedly tried to pull a handgun from his waistband, and the officers shot and killed him.

A deputy pulled over an SUV, and one of the passengers bailed out of the car and took off on foot with a backpack. The deputy called for backup and another deputy began a chase on foot. William Frank Hull allegedly shot at the deputy, who shot and killed him.

William Escano Yah was believed to be involved in a Sept. 5 quadruple murder. The bodies of 37-year-old Jairo Escano; his wife Elvira, 46; and their two kids: 13-year-old Isabel and 10-year-old Jairo Jr., were found after fire crews extinguished a fire at their home. He was killed by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after officers attempted to arrest him about 8:20 a.m.

Deputies were serving a felony warrant with Lufkin police officers assisting. Around 5 p.m., officers went to Bigs, formerly known as Cherry's Grocery, to arrest a customer who was wanted by the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole. When confronted, Richard Woods allegedly produced a handgun and aimed it at the deputy. The deputy then shot Woods. He allegedly reached for the handgun, which he had dropped, and the Lufkin Police officer also shot him. Whose bullet killed him was not immediately reported.

Following a call of a man attacking another man with a rifle about midnight, officers arrived to find a man standing in front of two mobile homes, bleeding from his head. The victim and a woman who was with him said they were robbed of their car keys, wallet, and cellphone by an armed white man. The victim said the man hit him in the head with the butt of a long gun. The victim directed officers to a mobile home on the backside of the property. Officers approached the mobile home and found the front door open but draped with a sheet. An officer knocked on the open door and seconds later, the man emerged with a rifle in his hands. Anthony Cravo allegedly raised the gun as if to shoot the officer. The officer shot and killed Cravo.

About 3:30 p.m., a Garland police officer stopped the driver of a Honda Accord. When the officer reportedly found evidence of drugs inside the car, the driver, Bobby Lee Murphy, 37, sped away. Police pursued Murphy, who also had two passengers in the car, but lost him as he drove north on Garland Avenue. Another officer spotted Murphy, who drove through a red light at an intersection and hit a silver Toyota. The driver of the Toyota, Karla Rico, was killed. Her son was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

About 6 a.m., a U.S. Border Patrol agent apprehended four migrants near the Rio Grande River. The agent handcuffed the four migrants to each other using three pairs of handcuffs. A female migrant managed to slip her hand from the handcuff as the agent assisted the migrants through a barbed wire fence en route to a Border Patrol unit. She then ran towards the Rio Grande approximately 50 feet and then fell from a 20-foot cliff in the darkness and died.

Officers were pursuing a sedan at approximately 2 a.m. During the chase, officers received a call from White Settlement police that the vehicle had been involved in past drive-by shootings and there was reason to believe occupants were considered armed and dangerous. Police pursued into Fort Worth. Three people got out of the sedan and tried to flee on foot. One of the three people allegedly pointed a weapon at one of the officers, who shot and killed Estevan Xavier Ramirez.

On September 3, 2021, around 6 a.m., a U.S. Border Patrol agent apprehended four migrants near the Rio Grande River in Laredo, Texas. The agent handcuffed the four migrants to each other using three pairs of handcuffs. As the agent assisted the migrants through a barbed wire fence en route to a Border Patrol unit, a female migrant managed to slip her hand from the handcuff. She then ran approximately 50 feet toward the Rio Grande and fell from a 20-foot cliff in the darkness, sustaining fatal injuries. The Laredo Fire Department arrived at the scene and declared her deceased. The incident is under review by the Laredo Police Department, the Webb County Medical Examiner's Office, and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Professional Responsibility. The DHS Office of Inspector General was notified of the incident.

Deputies were called after a man rammed several vehicles during an altercation with family members at a church. They spotted him driving the wrong way down the Hardy Toll Road. The 20-minute chase came to an end around 10:20 p.m. when the man ran over the deputy and crashed into a family member's home. Four deputy constables and a Houston police officer opened fire, killing the man.

Officers responded to reports of the man assaulting his wife. Upon arrival, the man fled in a gray Honda Accord, heading north on Hillcroft Avenue. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the back of a black Ford F-450 truck, resulting in his death. His wife was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the assault.

On 08/28/2021 a man from Mexico, Anastasio Rocha, was found dead inside his 2014 white Chevrolet Malibu shortly after midnight in Edinburg. The body was discovered following the conclusion of a police pursuit.

On August 27, 2021, Arlington Police were conducting surveillance on a vehicle linked to a robbery case. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver drove sped away. Police escalated a chase that ended when the vehicle crashed into another car at the intersection of Arkansas Lane and New York Avenue. The impact pushed the struck vehicle into the intersection, where it collided with three other vehicles and overturned. The bystander driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital and later died. Two others were injured. Police have not released the name of the deceased driver.

At approximately 1:09 a.m., Dallas officers spotted a stolen black Toyota Camry driven by an armed teen carjacker. The officers initiated a pursuit, reaching speeds up to 100 mph as the chase traveled through Grand Prairie, Arlington, and back into Dallas. At 1:34 a.m., the driver ran a red light and crashed into a white Chevrolet Impala, killing Cordell Jackson, an uninvolved driver.

Officers were dispatched to the area of SE Fifth Street and Browning after several reports of a man with a handgun in the neighborhood. They located Trinidad Marry at the intersection of Eighth Street and Browning. Marry allegedly pointed his gun at officers and others as he walked down the street. Officers continued to speak with him and walked with him to the 500 block of S. Bivins Street, where they shot and killed him.

At approximately 9:35 a.m., officers conducting surveillance for a fugitive saw a man matching the description approach an apartment. When officers approached, George Michael Mireles allegedly fired shots at them. In response, three officers shot and killed Mireles.

Around midnight, Pflugerville Police responded to a disturbance call after reports that a man with a gun was attempting to force his way into a bedroom. Ronald Zavaglia, a resident at the home, was reportedly trying to break down a door while armed. Moments after officers arrived, Officer Ian Clark shot and killed Zavaglia, who police said was still holding the weapon.

James Matalice Smith barricaded himself inside a home after shooting Deputy John Pollock while the deputy was serving a warrant. Around 3 a.m., Smith appeared to be surrendering as he exited his home. However, as officers attempted to take him into custody, Smith fired a gun at a trooper, hitting him in the arm. In response, police shot and killed Smith.

Around 9 p.m., a Houston Police Department officer in a marked vehicle hit a 69-year-old man while attempting to catch up to another driver. The pursuit involved an undercover vice officer in the vehicle. The man was killed as a result of the collision.

Steven Primm allegedly threatened a group of men with a gun. When officers arrived, Primm fled on his bike and later shot an officer twice. Shortly after, a second officer fatally shot Primm.

Deputy constables were called to a home around 11 a.m. for a welfare check, potentially related to a CPS referral about a 16-year-old girl. As deputies attempted to remove the girl from the home, a man inside began shooting at them. The man barricaded himself with the teen and one deputy constable. Eventually, the deputy and the girl were able to leave the house. The man fled, carjacked a nearby driver, and a pursuit and gunfight ensued. The man crashed and was shot and killed by police in an exchange of gunfire.

Police responded to a call reporting two individuals attempting to break into a business around 3 a.m. When the men saw an officer approaching, they fled, leading to a two-mile chase. The chase ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wooded area. The vehicle flipped upside down into the median, ejecting and killing one individual. The other person in the vehicle was injured.

Border Patrol agents tracked a group of migrants for several hours, eventually apprehending seven individuals, including a man from El Salvador. After being handcuffed to two other migrants, the man became unruly, leading agents to separate him. He attempted to escape but was quickly apprehended again. Agents restrained him and placed him on the hood of a vehicle. After waiting for about an hour for a transport vehicle, agents discovered the man was dead upon arrival of the transport.

Around 4 p.m., deputies were alerted to a vehicle involved in an aggravated kidnapping out of Travis County. They located the vehicle on IH-10 Eastbound near Highway 46 and attempted to stop it. After a pursuit, deputies used OnStar to slow the vehicle down, and it stopped near the FM2438 exit. Christopher Robinson allegedly opened fire on the officers, who responded by shooting and killing him.

On 08/07/2021, Arlington police attempted to stop a vehicle leaving an earlier shooting call. The driver refused to stop and police escalated a high-speed chase from Arlington into Grand Prairie. The fleeing vehicle lost control in the 2300 block of Marshall Drive and crashed into another car. The driver was ejected and died, and additional people were injured.

On 07/24/2021, Marble Falls Police attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for an expired registration. The driver, identified as Robert Williams, refused to stop and police escalated a chase that continued at speeds exceeding 100 mph into Llano County. During the pursuit, Williams attempted to pass a vehicle on the right shoulder, clipped another car, and lost control. Both he and passenger Farren Michelle Hawkins were ejected. Hawkins sustained severe head and body injuries and was airlifted to an Austin hospital, where she died on 07/28/2021. The pursuit began over a minor registration violation but involved extreme speeds and unsafe maneuvers.

San Antonio police officers shot and killed Neida Tijerina while she and her children were being held captive by her partner, Angel Sanchez, 28. When Sanchez emerged with a shotgun, police shot and wounded him. In the process, police also shot and killed Tijerina.

David Salinas was allegedly fleeing a prostitution sting when he crashed his vehicle while making a U-turn under the Gulf Freeway. Officers attempted to get him to exit his vehicle for arrest, but he failed to comply with orders. Two HPD officers shot and killed him.

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was fueling up at a gas station when a white pickup truck came across the street, driving the wrong way down a one-way road, and pulled up behind the trooper's vehicle. Jesse Carranza reportedly exited the vehicle, approached the trooper, and grabbed his taser from his duty belt. The trooper responded by shooting and killing Carranza.
