On July 5th, 2021, at approximately 11:08 a.m., San Antonio Police responded to a report of shots fired at 234 Noria, where a man with two guns reportedly shot at a reporter and cameraman. Officers later located Eduardo Mendez Amezquita at 322 Noria, where he had forced his way into an occupied home and threatened to kill the occupants while physically assaulting one of them. Negotiators spent four hours attempting to communicate with Amezquita, who threatened to burn down the house. At approximately 3 p.m., Amezquita exited the home, armed with a pistol, and was shot and killed by five officers around 3:17 p.m.

At about 9 p.m., Pantego Police attempted to pull over a vehicle for a minor violation, but the driver fled. The officer pursued the vehicle with lights and sirens for 32 seconds before losing sight of it. The officer terminated the chase, but the pursued vehicle continued, running several red lights and speeding over 100 mph. The car slammed into Douglas Osiemo's vehicle at the intersection of West Arkansas and Cooper Street, pushing his car under a box truck. Osiemo was killed, and the driver of the pursued vehicle fled on foot. Osiemo was working for a food delivery service at the time.

On 06/29/2021, U.S. Border Patrol agents pursued a Ford F-150 suspected of transporting undocumented migrants near Encino, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety joined the pursuit and deployed a spike strip near La Gloria on U.S. Highway 281. The driver swerved to avoid it, struck a solar panel array, and rolled the truck. A male passenger, identified as a citizen of Mexico, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Officers were dispatched around 3 a.m. in response to reports of a person burglarizing vehicles in the neighborhood. Another call came in around 3:17 a.m. reporting a person in a yard, looking into a residence. Officers located Philip Sanders, who fled on foot. Texas Tech Police initiated a pursuit of a Saturn Ion just before 2 a.m. The pursuit was discontinued by Tech Police due to unsafe speeds. Shortly after, the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed and passed a Lubbock Police officer who had just completed an unrelated traffic stop. The Lubbock officer attempted to catch up, but by the time the officer located the vehicle, it had crashed in the 4800 block of 4th Street, killing the driver, Isaiah Green.

Police were called to an apartment complex around 9 a.m. Upon arrival, officers saw Rita Joanne Lillard, 64, walking toward the apartment where the 911 call originated. As she knocked on the door, Lewis Trinidad Nunez, 46, answered and shot her at point-blank range, killing her. He then shot at the officers. One officer opened fire, wounding Nunez. He then retreated into the apartment, where he barricaded himself. Nunez eventually exited the apartment on his own. His girlfriend, Virginia Lillian Lillard, 39, was also found dead inside the apartment.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Westward Street around 7 p.m. during a narcotics investigation when Jermaine Sonnier fled on foot. During the foot chase, officers tasered Sonnier but continued to struggle with him before successfully restraining him. Once inside a police cruiser, Sonnier told officers that he had swallowed drugs. He was transported to a hospital by ambulance, where he died while en route.

A Fulshear police officer pulled over a vehicle around 10:40 a.m. for running a stop sign. A check of the driver’s license revealed an outstanding felony drug warrant out of Virginia. The officer informed Calvin Elmore that he was under arrest. Elmore allegedly shoved the officer, ran back to his car, and attempted to drive away. The officer reportedly tried to pull him out of the vehicle and then shot and killed Elmore. The vehicle continued for approximately 800 yards before crashing into a tree in a field.

Around 1:24 a.m., an officer observed two vehicles speeding south on Gessner. The officer followed a green Ford pickup truck to the 9400 block of Bissonnet, where the driver pulled over. The driver and passenger explained they were speeding because another vehicle was shooting at them. While the officer spoke with them, a man walked from the south side of Bissonnet toward the police. The man reportedly reached into his pants and pulled out a gun, firing at least once. In response, three officers shot and killed him.
