On March 4, 2021, 18-year-old Bianca Michelle Trujillo-Lopez was driving on FM 2523 near Del Rio when a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to stop her for speeding. She fled, allegedly reaching speeds over 120 mph, lost control on a curve, and rolled the vehicle, ejecting a migrant passenger who was killed. The deceased's identity has not been released. Trujillo-Lopez and 28-year-old Isidrio Rodriguez Jr. were indicted on charges including conspiracy to transport illegal aliens resulting in death and serious bodily injury.

On March 3, 2021, Houston police officers identified a vehicle suspected in a robbery. The driver, Broderick Woods, 33, failed to stop, leading to a pursuit that ended when Woods crashed at a gas station in the 7900 block of Southwest Freeway. Woods exited his vehicle and attempted to carjack another vehicle occupied by a mother, Daisha Smalls, who was refueling her car with her 1-year-old son, Legend, inside. Officers approached and reportedly saw Woods with a weapon. Officer E. Garza fired multiple shots, killing Woods and inadvertently striking the child, Legend, who was in the back seat. Legend was critically injured and hospitalized.

On March 1, 2021, a high-speed chase began in Claude, Texas, involving a white Kia sedan pursued by the Texas Highway Patrol. The Memphis Police Department and Hall County Sheriff's Office assisted. Upon arrival, they found 45-year-old Kristen Slack, of Universal City, dead in the front yard from multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, 46-year-old Todd Danhof, had locked himself inside the residence. After establishing a perimeter, officers heard a single gunshot from within. Upon entry, they discovered Danhof deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On February 26, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Thomas William Mack, 39, arrived at the residence of his child's mother near Gabriel and Hudson streets in San Antonio, Texas. He allegedly shot a man who emerged from the house. When the first responding officer arrived, Mack reportedly held a firearm, prompting the officer to retreat. Additional officers arrived and maintained a distance while attempting to persuade Mack to drop his weapon. After 15 to 20 minutes, officers attempted to subdue him with a stun gun. Mack allegedly fired twice at the officers, leading five officers to return fire, resulting in his death.

On February 18, 2021, Dallas police officers responded to a domestic violence call at a residence in the 5300 block of Bonita Avenue. Upon arrival around 11 a.m., they were met with gunfire from Sergio Sanchez, 57, who shot and wounded two officers in the legs. A SWAT team was deployed, and upon entering the home around 1:30 p.m., they found Sanchez and his wife, 31-year-old April Sanchez, deceased from gunshot wounds. Authorities reported that Sergio Sanchez had an extensive violent criminal history and did not want to return to prison after shooting his wife.

On February 17, 2021, around 8:40 p.m., two Houston police officers saw a black pickup truck speeding and followed it to a parking lot next to a taco truck on Little York Road. The driver exited the vehicle, pulled out a pistol, and robbed the taco truck. Both officers ordered him to drop the weapon. When he did not comply, both officers opened fire and killed him.

On February 14, 2021, El Paso police responded to a family violence call at a residence in the 3400 block of Sunset Rose Drive. The suspect, Adam Bruce Connors, 32, had left the scene before officers arrived. Later, police received a report of a possible suicidal person involving Connors. Officers located him approaching the residence on foot, armed with a shotgun. Despite commands to drop the weapon, Connors continued toward the house, which was occupied by one adult and six children. Officer I. Lujan fired a single shot from a patrol rifle, striking Connors, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 11, 2021, Houston Police Department officers responded to a criminal mischief call at an apartment complex near Airline Drive and Goodson Drive. A woman reported that her brother, Edwin Adan Velasquez, 20, was inside her home with a weapon and causing damage. Upon arrival, officers knocked on the door, which was partially open. As they pushed the door further, Velasquez appeared in the doorway and pointed a gun at them. Officers D. Shurtleff and D. Coppola opened fire, striking Velasquez multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 10, 2021, around 5:20 p.m., Austin police responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a home in the 2900 block of Rogge Lane. Shortly after, a 911 call reported a break-in at another residence on the same street. Upon arrival, officers heard a disturbance inside and forced entry at approximately 5:30 p.m. They encountered Jordan Walton, 21, who exchanged gunfire with the officers before barricading himself inside, holding a woman and her 10-year-old son hostage. At 6:17 p.m., Walton emerged with the boy, using him as a shield. Officers Ryan Nichols and Jeffrey Hutchison fired, killing Walton.

On February 7, 2021, around 9:30 a.m., Lacy Lakeview police responded to a call from a neighbor reporting a man running around with an ax. The man, later identified as 34-year-old Dustin Demaurean Powell, allegedly struck several cars with the ax, shattering at least one window. He also reportedly hit another person with the weapon, but the injury was not severe. Officer Thomas Beasley arrived and ordered Powell to drop the ax and stop advancing toward him. Powell did not comply, and Beasley opened fire, killing him.

At approximately 2 a.m. on January 24, 2021, Wichita County Sheriff's deputies observed a silver sedan stopped at an intersection. The driver, later identified as 38-year-old Tyree Kajawn Rogers, began yelling obscenities at the deputies before driving away. Deputies pursued the erratically driven vehicle, which exited onto Fisher Road and spun out of control. Four police vehicles boxed in the sedan, and when Rogers allegedly drove toward the deputies, they opened fire, killing him. The vehicle then struck a guardrail and came to a stop. A female passenger reportedly informed deputies that Rogers had shot and kidnapped her.

On January 21, 2021, around 1 a.m., College Station Police Department officers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Ryan Daniel Stallings. Investigators suspected Stallings was transporting large quantities of drugs. During the stop, Stallings allegedly retrieved a handgun from the center console of his vehicle. In response, Officer Matthew Newton, an eight-year veteran of the department, discharged his weapon, fatally striking Stallings. Upon arrival, Officer Alex Cruz reported hearing a woman screaming inside the residence. Entering the apartment, Officer Cruz encountered 29-year-old Jesse Daniel Davila allegedly assaulting a woman. According to police statements, Davila ignored commands to stop and advanced toward Officer Cruz, who then discharged his firearm, resulting in Davila's death.

On January 8, 2021, at approximately 1 p.m., 25-year-old Mark Anthony Johnson was driving a 2007 Dodge pickup truck eastbound on U.S. Highway 190 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Houston. When Woodville Police Department officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Johnson fled, leading to a high-speed pursuit. While attempting to pass another vehicle on the right shoulder, Johnson lost control, causing the truck to skid across both lanes of U.S. 190. The vehicle left the roadway and struck several large trees, resulting in Johnson's death at the scene.

On January 5, 2021, at approximately 10:23 a.m., Houston Police Department officers were conducting surveillance on suspected robbers near 16510 North Freeway. Three men arrived at the location in a vehicle. Two of them entered a hotel while the third remained outside. When the two men returned, officers moved in to arrest them. Two of the suspects attempted to flee on foot, while Jose Guzman allegedly reached for a pistol in his waistband. An officer opened fire, killing Guzman at the scene.
