OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Upon arrival, they found 54-year-old Albert Florencio Howie, a longtime paramedic, dead from a gunshot wound. Howie had served as a paramedic in the Coastal Bend region for many years and was well known in local emergency services. Police quickly identified the shooter as 29-year-old SRO Ashley Nicole Transmeier, an off-duty officer with the Corpus Christi Independent School District Police Department. She was later found unresponsive in a vehicle parked nearby and was revived by paramedics using medical aid and Narcan, indicating a suspected narcotics-related medical crisis or overdose attempt following the shooting. Investigators believe the incident arose from a domestic dispute tied to a possible romantic triangle or jealousy-related altercation. Law enforcement sources reported that Howie and Transmeier knew each other personally, though the exact nature of their relationship (romantic involvement or friendship) has not been fully detailed in official statements. A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the scene. Transmeier was arrested and charged with murder. She was booked into San Patricio County Jail and later placed on unpaid administrative leave by the Corpus Christi Independent School District Police Department pending the criminal case outcome.
