When SWAT officers approached the window, Burt again raised his gun; a SWAT officer fired their department-issued rifle, fatally striking him. On June 2, Memorial Villages officers attempted to pull over a vehicle lacking tail lights. The driver sped away, and despite spotting the vehicle a second time, officers did not activate pursuit due to department policy. The driver then ran several red lights on Westheimer Road, collided with multiple vehicles near Gessner, and continued eastbound. At Fondren and Westheimer, he crashed into another car, struck a pole or building, and his car burst into flames. Officers attempted to extinguish the fire, but paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Multiple occupants in other vehicles were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Police claim that they called off the chase just before the crash.

At about 3:15 p.m., officers responded to a domestic violence call on the 6400 block of Passo Via Drive in El Paso’s Upper Valley. As officers approached, a Latino male exited the home and opened fire. Officers returned fire. A female officer was shot and hospitalized in stable condition. The man was shot and taken to a hospital where he died. The shooting is under investigation by the Texas Rangers, El Paso Police Crimes Against Persons Unit, and Internal Affairs.

On May 31, 2025, Johnathan Findley, 38, was identified as the individual involved in a double homicide in Gilchrist, Texas. Houston police confronted a Latino man after multiple reports that he was threatening people with a baseball bat and had previously charged a security guard. On May 22, 2025, around 7:55 p.m., Houston police used aerial surveillance to follow a stolen Dodge Charger from the 11200 block of South Gessner Road to West Bellfort Avenue. The vehicle struck a U-turning vehicle in the 7500 block of West Bellfort, ejecting the bystander driver, a man in his 40s, who died at the hospital. The fleeing vehicle then crashed into a light pole, causing a fire. While firefighters attempted to pull him from the vehicle, the man fatally shot himself. Sandoval’s family described him as a devoted husband and father.

On May 17, 2025, at approximately 12:00 a.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to stop a Suzuki GSX motorcycle for reckless driving on Shoreline Avenue. The motorcyclist, identified as 34-year-old Thomas Dehner III of Sinton, continued driving northbound on Interstate 37 through a construction zone.
