A Rockwall deputy tried to traffic stop Steven Herrera Beltran for having a partially obscured temporary license tag. He did not stop and police escalated a chase. During the chase, police alleged that he fired shots at them and exited, fleeing at SR 276. The vehicle crashed and Beltran died from suicide under police duress.

On September 22, 2024, Andrea Nicole Garcia, 31, was found unresponsive in the booking section of the Bexar County Jail. Inmates alerted deputies around 3:13 a.m. that Garcia "didn't look well." Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m. Preliminary reports indicated that Garcia experienced a medical episode exacerbated by detoxing conditions. The official cause of death was to be determined by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.

Garcia had been booked into the jail on September 21, 2024, on charges of theft over $1,500 with two or more previous convictions and failure to identify.

The fatal shooting that occurred on September 22, 2024, at 3100 Corksie Street in Houston involved officers from the Houston Police Department (HPD). At approximately 2:35 a.m., HPD officers responded to the area after hearing multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, they encountered a man who raised a firearm at the officers and fired at them. In response, the officers discharged their weapons, striking and killing the individual.

The officers involved, identified as J. Lee and S. Palin, were not injured. A subsequent search revealed a second deceased man a few houses down from the incident. It was confirmed that the second man's death was not connected to the exchange of gunfire between the officers and the man The situation is under investigation, including a review by HPD's Special Investigations Unit and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

On 09/20/2024, Desire Pool, a 41-year-old woman, was struck and killed by a Houston Police Department (HPD) SUV while crossing Antoine Drive near Pinemont Drive. Officers Shelby Kennedy and Joshua Rosales were transporting an individual in custody at the time. Pool had exited a bus and was crossing the street with her children when she was hit by the HPD vehicle. Dashcam and body-worn camera footage from the incident revealed that Officer Kennedy performed CPR while Officer Rosales attempted additional life-saving measures at the scene.

Despite efforts to save her life, Pool later died from her injuries at a local hospital. HPD has publicly stated that they do not believe speeding was a factor in the crash. Both officers have since returned to active duty. Pool's family has publicly demanded accountability, specifically calling for the termination of Officer Kennedy.

A man in a mental health crisis was walking around the 5700 block of Oakland Avenue in St. Louis with a puppy. Police arrived and confronted him. He allegedly produced a knife and began stabbing his small dog. Police fired a taser at him, but he broke free and fled. Police again, cornered him, and allegedly ordered him to drop the knife. He instead went from standing to a seated position, but still held the knife. Police shot and killed him.

A man reportedly stole a vehicle with Sherrie Moore and three children as passengers. Police chased him extensively and by reports engaged in a shootout with him. Ingram died from suicide under police duress. Sherrie Moore was found injured with several gunshot wounds and died on 09/19/2024 in the hospital. Saul Vargas had been in jail for eight days on charges of evading arrest and burglary of motor vehicles, was found unresponsive in his cell after being tased an unknown number of times by deputies. According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies used force to restrain Vargas and moved him to another cell due to his behavior. He was tased during this process and was later found unresponsive. Despite attempts at CPR, he died shortly afterward.
