On 01/19/2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Rigoberto Badillo, a 49-year-old Latino male, was released from the Kaufman County Detention Center. Surveillance footage showed him in the parking lot of the Kaufman County Pet Adoption Center, located within the same complex as the detention center. His personal belongings were found abandoned near the detention center's front doors. His family reported him missing later that day. On 03/02/2025, his body was discovered in a creek approximately half a mile from the detention center. The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office identified the body as Badillo.
