A 61-year-old male passenger in Hughes’ vehicle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. A 68-year-old passenger in the Volkswagen was transported to a hospital but died from their injuries. The Volkswagen’s driver and two other passengers were hospitalized for treatment of injuries.

When an event was hosted at the Bravo hookah lounge for Kayas Kitchen on 10/27/2024, Day’shaun Colen was seen in a crowd on security video holding a door open to help employees enter the premises. A bystander is seen, grabbing him by the neck and stomach, and one of two armed security guards working for Apex Tactical Security started an altercation for unknown reasons. The U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force and the Houston Police Department arrived at a residence on Luthe Road in Houston to arrest someone for an unspecified warrant. The man exited the house with a shotgun and began firing at police. They shot and killed him.
