The fatal shooting that occurred on September 22, 2024, at 3100 Corksie Street in Houston involved officers from the Houston Police Department (HPD). At approximately 2:35 a.m., HPD officers responded to the area after hearing multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, they encountered a man who raised a firearm at the officers and fired at them. In response, the officers discharged their weapons, striking and killing the individual.

On 09/20/2024, Desire Pool, a 41-year-old woman, was struck and killed by a Houston Police Department (HPD) SUV while crossing Antoine Drive near Pinemont Drive. Officers Shelby Kennedy and Joshua Rosales were transporting an individual in custody at the time. Pool had exited a bus and was crossing the street with her children when she was hit by the HPD vehicle. Dashcam and body-worn camera footage from the incident revealed that Officer Kennedy performed CPR while Officer Rosales attempted additional life-saving measures at the scene.

Despite efforts to save her life, Pool later died from her injuries at a local hospital. HPD has publicly stated that they do not believe speeding was a factor in the crash. Both officers have since returned to active duty. Pool's family has publicly demanded accountability, specifically calling for the termination of Officer Kennedy.

Corey Cobb-Bey was a Moorish sovereign citizen who had created social media content in which he is seen approaching police officers, engaging them, questioning them what they were doing asking why they were there.
According to Dallas Police, Cobb-Bey had announced on social media that he was planning some kind of event.
On August 29, 2024, he reportedly walked up to Dallas PD Officer Darron Burks who was parked in a marked squad car and opened fire. He killed Burks and in the ensuing response from other officers, he injured two others, including one critically.
