Deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office located Kfin Karuo’s white Ford Expedition in a parking lot and attempted to arrest him for allegedly pointing a gun at a man on September 29. Karuo drove away, and deputies escalated a high-speed pursuit reaching 70 to 80 mph. Deputy Forrest Gonzalez performed a PIT maneuver, spinning Karuo’s SUV onto a berm. As Karuo began to climb out the driver’s window, Gonzalez saw a handgun in Karuo’s hand and ordered him to drop the weapon. Karuo pointed the gun at Gonzalez, who opened fire while backing away. Karuo ran toward a mobile home park, then turned and again pointed the gun at Gonzalez. Gonzalez fired more rounds. Deputy David Delin, who had arrived at the scene, also opened fire when Karuo appeared to square off. Deputies later found Karuo dead in a driveway with a loaded 9mm Glock in his hand. Gonzalez fired 10 rounds, and Delin fired 8. At least seven bullets struck a nearby occupied home, but no civilians were injured. The fatal shot struck Karuo in the torso. On March 24, 2021, officers from the Yakima Police Department and Yakima County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault at a Taco Bell around 5:10 p.m. A 22-year-old woman informed police that her 41-year-old former boyfriend had assaulted her and stolen her car. She reported that he had shown up at her workplace, requested a ride, and after she agreed, he assaulted her, placed her hands in zip ties, and forced her to pull into a parking lot. She managed to escape and seek help at a nearby Taco Bell. Shortly after, officers located the stolen vehicle, leading to a pursuit. A Yakima County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle by ramming it, but the chase continued until the man eventually stopped. The man then pulled out a gun and fatally shot himself.
