Amherst Police arrived at 450 Mill Avenue to arrest a man for unknown reasons. Police described him as “armed and dangerous.” Police engaged the man in a shootout and called SWAT. A lengthy militarized siege on the home ensued. A neighbor described SWAT using what may have been an armored SWAT caterpillar or other heavy equipment to tear away several windows and much of the front of the house while the residents were inside. Police arrested several people in the home for harboring a fugitive. Miller who was wanted for allegedly firing at or trying to harm a police officer was found dead inside of the home after a lengthy war-like engagement with SWAT.
