A Jefferson County deputy tried to stop a speeding vehicle in Watertown at around 12:30 p.m. on 03/20/2023. The driverdid not stop and left the city, drove east on Highway 16 toward Ixonia.When police escalated a chase, the driver lost control while trying to pass other drivers and left the road. A person later identified as Maureen Stark was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and died as a result of the police chase crash.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office responded to assist the City of Omro Police Department with a welfare check. Members of the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office SWAT and Negotiator team were deployed to a disturbance with a weapon. The manfired a gun multiple times from inside the residence. After a brief stand-off, a 22-year-old male exited the residence and was taken into custody. Johanna Schultz was found deceased.

Milwaukee PD saw a car they believed to be stolen and involved in a previous armed robbery near 11th and Atkinson. Milwaukee PD escalated a chase upon seeing this possibly same vehicle but claim they had to stop chasing due to their own equipment malfunction. Another squad car took over the chase and chased until the driver ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle. The unnamed 17-year-old driver was killed, his passenger injured and the driver of the car he had run into was also injured.

Madison PD were looking for Justin Kopmeyer because they believed he had strangled his girlfriend. They put a public warning out, heightening the tension until police located him at Kwik Trip in the 3500 block of E. Washington Avenue. Madison PD fired shots at him. A second officer had also fired a taser at Kopmeyer who retreated into the convenience store’s bathroom where he was found shot to death from a self-inflicted gunshot under police duress.

On February 21, 2023, Milwaukee Police Department in the 7000 block of West Thurston Avenue saw a vehicle without any license plates. Police initiated a traffic stop and the driver initially pulled over, then stepped on the gas and fled the traffic stop. Other nearby officers initiated a chase. The man drove through a red traffic signal and collided with a third-party vehicle in the 9100 block of West Silver Spring Drive after stop sticks and a PIT maneuver had been tried. The fleeing driver again fled the crash on foot, revealed a handgun and continued to run. An officer shot and killed Kyle Bazant.

Beaver Dam PD arrived at a domestic disturbance and saw a man take off by car. Police chased the car and on the 500 block of Louise Lane, the car pulled over. Officers found the person deceased from apparent suicide under police duress at the end of the chase.

According to the Milwaukee PD, they responded at 1:16 a.m. to the 2700 block of S. 14th St. in Milwaukee to search for a teenager reported in a robbery call. When police located him, he ran away and they found him again and "a struggle ensued." The teenager allegedly produced a handgun and fired shots, killing Officer Peter Jerving. Jerving fired his gun and shot and killed the teen. Both died at the scene.

Per DOJ, approximately 9:08 p.m., officers from Menomonie PD, Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the University of Wisconsin - Stout PD conducted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle near Terrill Road and Bongey Drive in Menomonie. During the traffic stop, Nicholas L. Ciccarelli, 45, exited the driver side of the vehicle and allegedly approached police with a firearm. Officer Tyson Kahlfrom the Menomonie PP, Lt. Michael Sampson from the Menomonie PD and Deputy Jacob Blum from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office fired shots and killed Ciccarelli. No officers were charged.

A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol stopped at 10 p.m. to check on a vehicle parked near the intersection of County Road Q and County Road B, smelled marijuana, and the driver drove off. The deputy escalated a chase and alleges they lost sight of the vehicle near State Highway 12 and County Road G until they came upon smoke in the curve on County Road G and found the car crashed with signs that it had rolled over several times. Agustin Flores died. No officers were charged.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department initially responded to a vehicle pursuit in Grant County that began in Dubuque, Iowa. A Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy deployed a spike strip and then shot at a vehicle. The vehicle later crashed in Green County, where the driver fled the scene on foot from police. He committed suicide under police duress near State Highway 11 with police chasing him. Police did not publicly identify him. Dane County deputies received a 911 call about a man with a weapon on Jefferson Street at about 11 a.m. Several local agencies began searching the area for a man who was alleged to have been seen with a weapon several times. Appleton PD responded to a domestic violence call. Daniel Pesavento was very drunk and had just been told that his wife wanted a divorce. He allegedly put a gun to his own head and police arrived. Pesavento became agitated, went in and out of the house, pointing a gun at himself. Police shot and killed him.
