On September 16, 2021, Eric Keesen, who had arrest warrants for unspecified felony crimes in Barron and Washburn counties, was located hiding in an attic space at a motel in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. Following the discovery, an 11-hour standoff ensued. During the standoff, Keesen shot and killed himself.

On September 14, 2021, the Waukesha Fire Department responded to a medical call about Paul J. Bruner, 58, who was having difficulty breathing. Police were attempting to arrest Bruner for domestic abuse as he was under a domestic abuse injunction order. Police said Bruner was uncooperative and refused medical attention. The woman involved in the incident had visible minor injuries. After determining that domestic violence had occurred, officers attempted to arrest Bruner. He allegedly became combative, and officers used a stun gun (electronic control device) and physical force to take him into custody. Bruner later died during the arrest.

On September 8, 2021, a fatal crash occurred on I-94 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during a police pursuit involving the Wisconsin State Patrol. The vehicle involved was being chased by officers, though the specific circumstances that initiated the chase have not been disclosed by law enforcement. During the pursuit, the vehicle crashed, resulting in the death of the driver, 26-year-old Akiem Louis Brown. Two other individuals in the vehicle were seriously injured.
At the time of the crash, the identity of the other occupants in the vehicle has not been publicly released. It is known that Brown was the driver of the vehicle.

On September 3, 2021, following a series of carjackings, David Wayne Marshall Jr. was confronted by law enforcement in Franklin, Wisconsin. Deputies from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, a Franklin police officer, and officers from Oak Creek Police Department responded to the situation. In the course of the encounter, multiple officers opened fire, shooting and killing Marshall. The details regarding the events leading to the use of deadly force have not been fully disclosed.

On August 26, 2021, officers from the Milwaukee Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven recklessly by Earl D. Lawhorn III. Lawhorn did not stop and fled from the scene, leading to a pursuit. During the chase, Lawhorn crashed the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers confronted Lawhorn, who was reportedly armed with a handgun. Despite several commands to drop the weapon, Lawhorn did not comply, and officers shot and killed him during the encounter.

On August 22, 2021, Greenfield Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Tyron Christamar Lamb near the city's border with Milwaukee at 1:36 a.m. Lamb initially stopped the vehicle but then drove off, prompting a police pursuit. After about two miles, Lamb crashed the vehicle in Milwaukee and exited the car, reportedly starting to shoot at officers. Lamb struck a 36-year-old officer multiple times. In response, two officers involved in the pursuit opened fire and killed Lamb.

On August 16, 2021, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers responded to a report of a man, Broderick "Baldie" E. Shelton Jr., pointing a gun at people. Upon arrival, officers encountered Shelton, who was armed with a gun. Police reportedly ordered him to drop the weapon, but Shelton allegedly fired his gun at officers. Officers shot and killed Shelton during the confrontation.

On August 6, 2021, around 12:14 a.m., a Barron County Sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The deputy asked the driver to exit the car for a sobriety test, which the driver complied with. The driver then stated he needed to grab something from his car, but the deputy informed him that he was not allowed to do so. Despite this, the driver drove off, and the deputy initiated a pursuit. After about seven miles, the deputy lost sight of the vehicle and ended the chase. Police later found the vehicle had crashed into a tree in a field driveway. The passenger was killed in the crash, and the driver, who was arrested for his sixth offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, was taken to Barron Hospital with minor injuries. The driver was also arrested for homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and fleeing an officer.

On August 1, 2021, officers attempted to stop Logan Anthony Zappa after noticing that the license plates on his 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix did not match the vehicle. Zappa fled the scene, leading to a five-minute pursuit. The officers reportedly discontinued the chase shortly thereafter. A short time later, St. Croix County sheriff's deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of County Road T and County Road H in Stanton, where Zappa was found seriously injured. Zappa had run a stop sign and collided with a pickup truck, resulting in his death.

On July 13, 2021, John R. McCarthy shot and killed a man who was pumping gas at a gas station. McCarthy later reportedly engaged in a gunfight with an undercover sheriff's deputy at another gas station not far away. After the exchange of gunfire, McCarthy shot himself in the head, ultimately causing his death.

On July 3, 2021, Ashley Slama, 23, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Devan Michael Potter, 22, along with another passenger, Ryen Swiatly, 24. After leaving Bobbers Island Grill around 2 a.m., Potter was stopped by Sauk County Deputy Matthew Tate for a loud exhaust and a tail light issue. When the deputy approached, Potter quickly fled the scene, and the deputy did not pursue. About 10 minutes later, the deputy informed other law enforcement agencies that he had located the vehicle about a mile east of Gillem Road, overturned in a ditch. Slama was killed in the crash. Potter was charged with fleeing an officer resulting in death, homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, driving without a valid license, and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

On June 22, 2021, Michael Wolski reportedly called 911 on himself in an apparent attempt to attract police attention. Wolski allegedly told dispatchers he had seen someone with a long gun in a New Berlin parking lot. Officer Rick Helm, who was parked nearby, responded to the call. When Helm went to investigate, Wolski allegedly confronted the officer. During the confrontation, Officer Helm shot Wolski, who later died from his injuries about a month after the incident.

On June 15, 2021, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers from the Milwaukee Police Department attempted to stop a stolen Kia Sportage driven by 16-year-old Demonta Lamar Hambright Jr. The driver fled the scene, leading to a police pursuit. Moments later, officers reportedly ended the pursuit before the stolen SUV crashed into an oncoming car. The teen driver, Demonta Hambright, was killed in the crash, and several others involved in the collision were injured.

On June 2, 2021, at approximately 5:24 p.m., deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office pursued a stolen vehicle driven by 27-year-old David J. Burdick. The pursuit continued until Burdick veered off the roadway and crashed, resulting in his death. Three deputies—Dean Dokken, Logan Lange, and AshtinZunker—were involved in the pursuit.

On May 31, 2021, an Onalaska Police officer observed a motorcycle speeding on Highway 35. The officer attempted to stop the motorcycle at a stop sign, and although the rider initially appeared to comply, the motorcyclist sped off down Oak Avenue at an estimated speed of 100 mph. While notifying dispatch to end the pursuit, the officer witnessed the motorcycle crash into a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The motorcyclist, identified as 33-year-old Tou Yia Lor, was thrown from the motorcycle and died from the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Hyundai Tucson was injured.

On May 30, 2021, at around 10:30 p.m., officers from the Milwaukee Police Department were dispatched to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots and saw Roberto Zielinski armed on the front porch. Zielinski fled to the rear porch and continued to fire shots. Despite several orders from officers to drop his weapon, Zielinski reportedly refused to comply. In response to the threat, one officer shot and killed Zielinski during the confrontation.

On May 24, 2021, at approximately 9:16 a.m., a three-vehicle crash occurred on the westbound lanes of I-94 near County Highway J in Eau Claire County. On May 1, 2021, at approximately 7:27 p.m., dispatchers received a report of shots fired at the Oneida Casino in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Bruce K. Pofahl, a former restaurant employee, allegedly approached a waiter station and shot and killed 32-year-old Ian J. Simpson and 35-year-old Jacob T. Bartel. Pofahl then left the restaurant and shot and wounded 28-year-old Dan Mulligan. Green Bay police officers encountered Pofahl near the first floor of the parking ramp east of the Radisson Hotel. Officers Brian Jordan, Makayla Wolfe, and Ben Snyder confronted Pofahl, who was armed, and shot and killed him during the encounter.

Shortly after the attempted stop, the vehicle clipped one house and crashed into another. Poelinitz was killed in the crash, and four other people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital. Fortunately, no one in either house was injured in the crash.

On March 21, 2021, around 12:15 a.m., deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an argument involving a firearm between a man and a woman at a home in Taycheedah. Deputies interviewed the woman and later stopped a vehicle that left the scene. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies found the man hiding in the trunk. When confronted, the man allegedly pulled out a gun. Deputies surrounded the vehicle and attempted to negotiate with the man for several minutes before he shot and killed himself.

On March 17, 2021, around 10:30 p.m., Fraron Cornelius, a worker at the Roundy's supermarket distribution center in Oconomowoc, shot and killed two co-workers. The following morning, around 5 a.m., police spotted his vehicle in Milwaukee and pursued it. The pursuit ended when Cornelius crashed into the front yard of a home. After exiting the vehicle, Cornelius shot and killed himself.

On March 11, 2021, police responded to a retail theft at Best Buy in Wauwatosa. Officers located a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the theft. As officers approached the car, one of the three occupants fled on foot. While searching for the suspect, officers learned that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on I-41 near where the suspect had been seen running. The pedestrian, identified as 35-year-old Kevin Wilke, was killed in the collision. It was believed that Wilke had been involved in the retail theft.

On March 11, 2021, at approximately 11:22 a.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Tri-City National Bank in Mount Pleasant. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit. The chase continued until the vehicle reached West Road, where it slowed down. According to police reports, the driver fatally shot himself during the pursuit.

On February 3, 2021, around 2:56 p.m., a neighbor called 911 to report hearing gunshots. The neighbor stated the shooter was walking toward his or her home. When deputies arrived, an exchange of gunfire occurred, and the man fled. Police later found Nicholas Pingel dead from a gunshot wound. Pingel had killed two individuals, 72-year-old Ray Engelking and 77-year-old Carl Halvorsen, who were unknown to him. Deputies involved in the incident were not identified in the reports.

On February 1, 2021, around 8:30 p.m., police responded to a call reporting that a man had broken into a home in Hayward and held the caller hostage. The hostage managed to escape and contacted the police. Authorities arrived at the scene and attempted to get the suspect, Terry L. Carson, to come out. Carson refused to comply, and a long standoff ensued. After a period of silence, police used a robot with a camera to check on Carson and discovered that he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On January 22, 2021, around 9:06 a.m., deputies from the Racine County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check request for a residence in the Village of Rochester. The request came from a family member who lived outside of Wisconsin. The home was shared by 30-year-old Matthew T. Vinz and his parents, Terrence G. Vinz, 65, and Debra A. Meagher, 62. Deputies entered the home and began searching for the occupants. Moments later, a gunshot was heard near the deputies. Upon investigation, Matthew Vinz was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The bodies of his parents were later found in the garage.
