On May 6, 2021, at approximately 3:54 a.m., officers from the Casper Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle. As officers approached, the driver exited the vehicle, and the passenger moved into the driver's seat and allegedly attempted to flee. One officer contacted the driver, while the other officer tried to stop the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle entered I-25, heading into oncoming traffic lanes. The officer, still inside the vehicle with the driver, continued to order the driver to stop. At this point, the officer shot and killed the driver, reportedly stopping the vehicle along the side of the Interstate.

On March 29, 2021, troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle that was already being pursued. Despite the attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Josiah Griffith, fled from the trooper. The vehicle entered Blairtown Connection Road before coming to a stop on 5th Avenue West. The vehicle then moved forward again, went down an embankment, and came to a stop. When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered Griffith dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On March 12, 2021, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a trooper from the Wyoming Highway Patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle. The driver fled, driving north on I-25 at excessive speeds and failing to stop. Several miles north of Cheyenne, the driver crossed into the opposite lanes of travel and collided with a southbound commercial tractor-trailer. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was killed in the crash.
